I never really understood how powerful knowing a demon's name really is. I can't get it through my head really.
Any help of shoving it in would be appreciated.

A daemon’s true name can come from a number of sources. It can come from their Chaos god, it can come from the being they were before the became a Daemon (in the case of those who have been transformed into daemons) and in some cases it says something about who or what they are, about the aspect or emotion that ‘birthed’ them in the first place.
For example, in Master of Mankind, one of the daemons assaulting the Webway Gate is named Drach’nyen, or “the echo of the first murder”. It was formed as a byproduct of the first time a human being murdered another human being. Thus, every time a human commits murder, it ‘feeds’ Drach’nyen. And it has grown old and powerful as a result, but it has no affiliation with any chaos god that I am aware of. It’s name is both it’s title and it’s description at the same time.
I’m very sorry about that. Something must’ve gone wrong with my phone. I wasn’t aware of the spam.
Wow....
Isn't abaddons daemon blade named drach'nyen? So that dude has the soul of the daemon who represents the first murder in his blade. That's awesome!
He has the Daemon of Cain. Nice.
Dankangel, yep. The blade contains the essence of Drach’nyen, if I recall correctly. I don’t want to be a huge asshole and just throw out spoilers all Willynilly. So I’ll just recommend you read the book or at least a synopsis of the story to explain the sword and how the Daemon came to be in the blade. It’s really good. It was one of the better HH novels, in my opinion.
Could someone who has become a daemon have it banished from them, leaving the host in there original form? Such as one of the traitor primarchs?
The only one I know of to do that was Magnus. Even then he was able to change his form beforehand. As for an example, if you read the book “War of The Fang”, Magnus first appears as a small child, then as he was during the crusade, and towards the end he becomes more like his daemon form.
Fulgrim wrestled back his body from the demon of the laeran blade. I do not recall if he knew its true name though
@Andrea, I believe Fulgrim simply used his own willpower to wrestle control of his body back from the Daemon that had possessed him. It helps to be a Primarch, I guess.
