History
Edit
Typhus' original name was Calas Typhon, and he hailed from the Death Guard's toxic homeworld of Barbarus. Typhon possessed the blood of the mutant psyker warlords that had ruled the planet before being defeated by Mortarion, the Death Guard's Primarch, who had been exiled to Barbarus through the Warp from Terra by the Dark Gods. He also possessed formidable psychic powers and had already sold his soul to the Ruinous Powers after being introduced to the worship of Chaos during the Great Crusade by the First Chaplain of the Word Bearers Legion, Erebus. With the aid of Chaos, Typhon became the First Captain of the Death Guard and commander of the potent, unique Death Guard Battleship Terminus Est. When Mortarion joined Horus in his rebellion against the Emperor, Typhon killed the Navigators who remained loyal to the Emperor aboard the vessels of the Death Guard's Legion fleet and assured his Primarch that he could lead the Legion to Terra in the Navigators' place because of his connection to the powers of the Warp. Instead, Typhon led the Traitor Marines of the XIV Legion into a trap intended to deliver the Legion into the hands of the Chaos Gods -- the Death Guard's fleet was becalmed in the Warp, adrift, helpless...and at the mercy of Chaos. Then came the terrible infection of the Destroyer Plague and Nurgle's Rot as Nurgle's power managed to infiltrate the vessels of the XIV Legion. The Death Guard were struck down one by one until Mortarion pledged his soul and the souls of all his men to the Lord of Plague to save their lives, but Typhon received his reward from Nurgle for leading his Battle-Brothers to their terrible fate. He absorbed the full power of the Plague Lord's virulence. Typhon's body became home to the bloated insect children of Nurgle, the Destroyer Hive, while his Power Armour transformed into the home for this pestilence. Calas Typhon became Typhus, the Herald of Nurgle and the Host of the Destroyer Hive, one of the most powerful of the Champions of Chaos.

Added by Algrim WhitefangIn the late 41st Millenium, Typhus still roams the stars on board his great Battleship, the Terminus Est, spreading the virulent blessings of his patron God to the Materium. Disgusted by his Primarch's desire to simply rule his Daemon World, the Plague Planet, Typhus distanced himself from his erstwhile lord and master Mortarion in the centuries after the Horus Heresy ended, preferring to act as an independant agent of Nurgle. Typhus has assisted Abaddon the Despoiler multiple times during his Black Crusades, relishing the chance to spread the Plague Lord's pestilences amongst the denizens of the Imperium. When he is not reaping a bloody harvest for Nurgle with his Manreaper on the field of battle, Typhus sits immobile on the Terminus Est 's command throne, his mind fusing with the mighty ship's senses to search for its next destination amongst the eddies and currents of the Warp. His ceaseless travels to find yet more places to spread Nurgle's blessings have earned him the half-reverent, half-mocking title of "The Traveller" amongst the other servants of the Ruinous Powers.
Wargear and Abilities
Edit
Typhus is a formidable psyker who has been favoured by Nurgle, and is able to call forth both Nurgle's Rot and the Wind of Chaos psychic powers. In addition to his Manreaper, a daemonic Power Scythe, his body is host to the Destroyer Hive; a horrific plague that manifests as a swarm of insects that continuously pour from the cracks and vents in his Terminator Armour to infect the enemies of Nurgle. Typhon is also the captain of the unique Pre-Heresy Battleship named Terminus Est.
