The Claws of Lorek are a warband of Chaos Space Marines of unknown allegiance. They are suspected of having a connection to the Astral Claws, the once Loyalist Space Marine Chapter that now forms the Red Corsairs Warband.

Warband HistoryEdit

Claws of Lorek Warband Colour Scheme

The Chaos Space Marines known as the Claws of Lorek have been sighted within the area of the Warp rift in the Ultima Segmentum known as the Maelstrom. They have been noted by Imperial scholars as a possible splinter group of the Renegade Astral Claws Chapter. Allegedly, this splinter group went on a separate path of escape from the rest of their former Chapter during the final assault on Lufgt Huron's Palace of Thorns on Badab Primaris at the conclusion of the Badab War. Their current warleader, the Chaos Champion Lorek, has maintained the warband's allegiance to Huron Blackheart. The Claws of Lorek have been known to take on various assignments to find artefacts of power, to sow mayhem and destruction among the worlds of the Imperium, or to recruiting deep within the borders of the Imperium of Mankind's Ultima Segmentum to find disgruntled Imperial citizens or Renegade Space Marines willing to join their cause. The Brotherhood also recruits new members from already established, but disgruntled, Chaos Space Marines who are the members of other warbands or the Traitor Legions themselves. It has been speculated that the Claws of Lorek may represent a remnant of the Tiger Claws Chapter that lead to the fall from grace of the Astral Claws.

Notable CampaignsEdit

  • Invasion of Ultramar (999.M41) - The Invasion of Ultramar occurred when a large Chaos warband known as the Bloodborn invaded the Ultramarines' Realm of Ultramar, headed by the Iron Warriors Warsmith Honsou and the Daemon Prince M'kar the Reborn, both servants of the Ruinous Powers who had sworn revenge against the Ultramarines for the past wrongs they believed had been done to them. This Chaos invasion occurred roughly concurrently with Abaddon the Despoiler's 13th Black Crusade in 999.M41, though the Bloodborn's invasion was not officially a part of the Black Crusade's forces. The Bloodborn were comprised of a large following of multiple Chaos Warbands and rogue regiments comprised of both Planetary Defence Forces and Imperial Guardsmen. These throwaway troops were used as cannon fodder during the Bloodborn's initial assaults. The rest of the Bloodborn's elite forces were comprised of Chaos Space Marine warbands which included the Claws of Lorek, the Apostles of MinthRas, the Skulltakers, and the Death Shadows. The Claws of Lorek were not a part of the Bloodborn themselves, and unlike the other Chaos Warbands and Iron Warriors detachment, they were not often seen fighting alongside the Bloodborn's main forces.

Warband AppearanceEdit

Warband ColoursEdit

The Claws of Lorek wear primarily black Power Armour with metal trim and a reverse red/black tiger-stripe pattern on the shoulders plates and greaves.

Warband BadgeEdit

The Claws of Lorek do not have an individual icon, instead they wear the usual heretical Chaos iconography and fetishes to identify their allegiance to the Dark Gods.
