Traitor Titan

A Traitor Titan

The Death Stalkers are a Traitor Titan Legion of the Dark Mechanicus that repudiated their oaths to the Emperor of Mankind and followed the Warmaster Horus into the service of the Ruinous Powers during the Horus Heresy. There is very little information in Imperial records about this obscure Titan Legion, though it is suspected to have been founded before the Age of the Imperium, during the Age of Strife.

Legion HistoryEdit

Even before the outbreak of open warfare during the Horus Heresy, the political climate on Mars, the sacred homeworld of the Adeptus Mechanicus was one filled with tension. There were unconfirmed suspicions that the Titan Legions stationed there had already secretly chosen sides in case of a potential conflict. At the outset of the Horus Heresy when the great Schism of Mars occurred, the Death Stalkers Titan Legion fought against the forces of the Loyalist Mechanicus. At the end of the Heresy the Death Stalkers were driven towards the Eye of Terror along with the rest of the Forces of Chaos. They remain trapped in servitude to the Chaos Gods, fighting the Long War that began ten millennia before.

Notable CampaignsEdit

  • Schism of Mars (ca. 005.M31) - During the opening days of the Horus Heresy when civil war erupted on the Red Planet, Titans of the Death Stalkers were involved in the opening volleys of the war. Along the borders of the Lunae Palus and Arcadia regions, what had previously been confined to a heated war of words between different Mechanicus factions, erupted into true warfare when Princeps Ulriche of the Death Stalkers unleashed his war engines upon the fortress of Maxen Vledig’s Legio Honorum (Death Bolts). Caught by surprise, the Death Bolts lost 19 Titans in the first hour of battle, before withdrawing into the frozen wastes of the Mare Boreum and seeking refuge in the dune fields of Olympia Undae. Their calls for reinforcement went unanswered, as all of Mars tore itself apart as the cancer of civil war spread across the planet in a raging firestorm.
  • 13th Black Crusade (999.41) - When Abaddon the Despoiler led the largest Chaos incursion into Imperial space in 999.M41 since the Horus Heresy as part of the 13th Black Crusade, the Death Stalkers were one of the Traitor Titan Legions that had unconfirmed involvement in the campaign against the Imperial Fortress World of Cadia.
