An Imperial Navy Escort Carrier
Escort Carriers are usually Imperial freighters that have had their cargo holds and loading doors turned into makeshift launch bays and had their weapons battery slightly upgraded by the Imperial Navy. While accidents and technical problems abound due to the difficult conditions and modifications that are far beyond the vessel's original specifications, an Escort Carrier nonetheless allows a few extra attack craft squadrons to be launched into combat to defend an Imperial supply or merchant convoy. Escort Carriers can also be used by other races, though generally only the Tau Navy also makes use of these makeshift supplements to their naval forces.
