Tyche Attack Bike Squad 22

Pre-Heresy World Eaters Legion Attack Bike Squadron during the Great Crusade

A Legion Attack Bike Squadron was a specialised unit of the ancient Space Marine Legions employed during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy eras in the late 30th and early 31st Millennia.

These mechanised units took to the field aboard larger, often two-man Attack Bikes which had the ability to accommodate a single heavy weapon, providing fire support when accompanying Legion Outrider Squads. It was from these formations that the later Adeptus Astartes Bike Squads were created after the Second Founding in the early 31st Millennium.

History[]

Keth Attack Bike

A Pre-Heresy Attack Bike with optional Heavy Flamer

Formed from experienced Space Marines Attack Bike Squads, these units utilised larger, two-man Attack Bikes whose expanded chassis could accommodate a single heavy weapon, making for a formidably armed and swift if somewhat fragile gun platform.

Attacks Bikes were often accompanied by Outrider Squads to provide fire support and were also deployed in squadrons as a high-speed strike force to ravage larger, slower enemy units as well as destroying isolated armoured vehicles with concentrated weapons fire.
