Myrmidon-secutors5

A Myrmidon Secutor armed with a Power Axe.

A Myrmidon Secutor was an ordained Tech-priest of the Cult Mechanicum who embodied the art of destruction at close quarters, utilising the rightly-feared Mechanicum weapons technology to further their ends. The Myrmidon Secutors were active during the time of the Great Crusade and the Horus Heresy.

Myrmidon Secutors kept no master long, but instead were drawn to battle as a vulture is drawn to carrion, always seeking fresh challenges to defeat. It is unknown if Myrmidon Secutors still exist in the Adeptus Mechanicus of the 41st Millennium, though they may still be embodied in somewhat bastardised form in the sect known as the Auxilia Myrmidon.

History[]

Unlike the Skitarii, who formed the cybernetically-enhanced elite soldiery of the Forge Worlds and the military retinues of their ancient Mechanicum masters, the Myrmidon Secutors were ordained priests of the Cult Mechanicus in their own right, but were a breed apart from their fellow Tech-priests and magi.

Their sole concentration is the art of destruction and the embodiment of that power within their own vastly augmented bodies, in which little organic tissue remains. The Myrmidons formed their own sub-sects within the ancient Mechanicum and to them war was a matter of cold logic and murderous equation.

They kept no single master long, and instead they were drawn to battle like an apex predator drawn to the scent of freshly spilled blood, seeking out new challenges to defeat. They believed that revelations of the Omnissiah were unveiled to them in the mysteries of shot and shell.

Wargear[]

  • Infravisor - The Infravisor is a device integrated into a Myrmidon's augmetics that allows him or her to detect infrared heat signatures as well as any objects shedding other forms of electromagnetic radiation normally invisible to the human eye.

Optional Wargear[]

The Myrmidon can deploy any two of the following weapons:

  • Maxim Bolter - A relatively compact, short-chambered rotary boltgun, these weapons are capable of a much higher rate of fire than a standard boltgun, but their weight and recoil mean that they may only be used by heavily-augmented users such as Karkinos servitors and Myrmidons of the Cult Mechanicum.
  • Phased Plasma Fusil
