The Flickering Blades were a Renegade warband of Chaos Noise Marines that broke away from their parent Traitor Legion, the Emperor's Children, and who are led by the infamous Noise Champion Volupus. Volupus, a son of Chemos, decided to go off on his own to form his own warband of Heretic Astartes.
In battle these warriors stride into combat wielding lithe swords that sing songs of death with every swing. From out of their twisted armour stretch numerous writhing tongues, each mutant maw licking its lips in lewd anticipation of the blood-splattering of close combat.
The Flickering Blades were later slain to a man by the Skull Takers of Hans Kho'ren, a warband of the World Eaters. The Flickering Blades had claimed that none could best them in swordplay. Hans Kho'ren proved this wrong when he and his Khornate Berserkers invaded the warband's pleasure den and slew the entire warband, and the Chaos Lord dedicated his victory to Khorne.

The Flickering Blades' colours are not listed in current Imperial records, but like all servants of the Prince of Pleasure, they utilise garish, outlandish colours that are bright and stimulate the senses.
