The Golden Halos is a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin.
Almost nothing is known about this Chapter other than that it was engaged in such notable campaigns as those on Kistvaen, Podzul, and the solar decades-long Siege of Nectocalyx, which was colloquially referred to as "The Meatgrinder."
The Chapter's motto in High Gothic, Ex Ungue Leonem ("Judge the Lion by his claws"), reveals its proud martial tradition.
Chapter History[]
Notable Campaigns[]
- Garandus Incident (322.M41) - When a vessel appeared out of nowhere, it was positively identified as the "ghost ship", the Celestion, a doomed vessel that disappeared in the Warp nearly a century earlier. This was the second sighting of the mysterious vessel, which was dramatically encountered by the Imperial Battlecruiser Garandus, when the vessel appeared out of nowhere and collided against the Imperial vessel. Several of the hangars containing the Golden Halo Space Marine Chapter's dropships were ripped apart. The force of the void sucked many of these vessels out into the Warp. As the crew proceeded to make repairs on their stricken vessel, and retrieval of the unmanned dropships was underway, the Navigator alerted the Captain that the gravitational pull of a forming vortex became greater than the reduced power of the Imperial vessel's engines. There was nothing they could do to prevent the Garandus being sucked inexorably to its doom. It was only because of this accident that a greater disaster was avoided. If the Garandus had not been forced to alter course and reverse engines as a result of the Celestian's appearance, it appears fatal contact with the rapidly appearing vortex would have been unavoidable. Nevertheless, the mission had to be terminated. Casualties were listed as 2,362, 17% from the Golden Halo Space Marine Chapter.
- Battle of Saint Pelagion (Unknown Date.M42) - On the Cardinal World of Saint Pelagion the Golden Halos fought the sadistic Drukhari. The Golden Halos Primaris Marine Brother Theod fought in this campaign as part of an Infiltrator Squad.
Notable Golden Halos[]
- Theod - At the Battle for Saint Pelagion, the Cardinal World where the Golden Halos Chapter fought sadistic Drukhari raiders, Brother Theod went to battle equipped as a member of an Infiltrator Squad. Theod carried numerous weapons, all easily accessible in combat. These included the grenades attached to his chest straps, the dagger-shaped icon at his hip and the Marksman Bolt Carbine slung over his shoulder. Like many Space Marines, Theod applied numerous embellishments to his armour. These were in addition to the Chapter icon he bore on his left pauldron and the vertical arrow symbol on his right pauldron, which indicated that he is a member of a battleline squad. He had handwritten battle-oaths on the inset of his left shoulder plate in the script of his homeworld, Sacratis, as well as the Chapter's motto in High Gothic: Ex Ungue Leonem or "Judge the Lion by his Claws." A single skull is illustrated on his right shoulder plate. This was in memoriam Anast, his squad brother who was slain in an earlier clash on Saint Pelagion. Each check painstakingly illuminated on the right shoulder plate represents a single slain enemy. By the end of the campaign, every unadorned area on the entire plate was marked in this way.
Chapter Appearance[]
Chapter Colours[]
The Golden Halos Chapter primarily wears ebon power armour. The colour of the Aquila or Imperialis on the chest plate as well as the shoulder plate trim and helm is gold.
The open-faced golden squad specialty symbol -- battleline, close support, fire support, Veteran, or command -- is located on the right shoulder plate.
A golden Low Gothic numeral is centred on the squad specialty symbol, indicating squad number.
The iconography on the left knee plate indicates company number in accordance to the Codex Astartes -- i.e. White (1st Company), Yellow (2nd Company), Red (3rd Company), etc.
Chapter Badge[]
The Golden Halos' Chapter badge is a golden circle with a golden halo surrounding it, on a field of black. This symbolism represents their namesake, the Golden Halo.
