[edit] Overview
The Knights of Order are a second founding successor chapter of the Dark Angels, one of the Unforgiven Chapters. Their chapter badge is the winged sword of the Dark Angels. Their tactical doctrine rests on meticulous planning and tactical flexibility with all marines trained to operate within Tactical, Assault and Devastator Squads.
[edit] Appearance
Most Knights of Order bear no heraldry at all as to bear the heraldry of the chapter is considered an honor, a marine must understand the true nature of the chapter's past before he may bear it's markings. As a result of this only the upper ranks may wear the badge.
[edit] Chapter Colors
The Knights of Order's power armor is metallic in colour and bears a close resemblance to the Dark Angels' pre-heresy colors. Their shoulder pads are DA green and trimmed in gold.
[edit] Chapter Symbol
Their chapter badge is the winged sword of the Dark Angels.
[edit] Organisation
[edit] Fleets
The Knights of Order are a fleet based chapter. Their forces are split between three fleets and as such can operate in several different areas at the same time. Their forces are disposed as follows:
First Fleet - Chapter Command. Fleet Command. 3rd, 4th and 5th Tactical Companies. 10th Company contingent.
Second Fleet - Fleet Command. 6th and 7th Tactical Companies. 10th Company Contingent.
Third Fleet - Fleet Command. 8th and 9th Tactical Companies. 10th Company Contingent.
[edit] Recruitment and 10th Company
The Knights of Order 10th Company differs from many others because it is spread over the three fleets. Each of the Knights' fleets recruits from almost every world they come across meaning that the 10th company's overall strength can be anything up to 500 potential marines at any one time. This is because of the way the Knights' operate their main companies. The 10th company is constantly expanding with many Initiates who are ready to be elevated to full Brothers, they will only do so when a space becomes available because of promotion or death in battle. The result of this is that the Knights can not only field highly trained and experienced Scout Squads but are able to add immediate and permanent replacements to the Tactical Companies.
[edit] Tactical Companies
Unlike most other chapters all of the Knights' companies are front line battle companies. Instead of replacing battle losses from reserve companies as other chapters do, the Knights draw new battle brothers directly from the 10th company knowing they will be trained and ready. The Knights believe in tactical flexibility and so all marines are adept at discharging all combat roles. Therefore the composition of the company can change to meet the engagement as any squad can be equiped for fire support, assault or standard tactical roles on the battlefield.
[edit] Death's Shadow and The Reapers
The Knights of Order 1st and 2nd company are known as The Reapers and Death's Shadow respectively. The role of these companies is the same as their counterpart companies within the Dark Angels chapter. The First Company is the Elite of the chapter, the finest of their warriors. They always take to battle encased in Terminator armor. The Second Company are a highly mobile scouting force equipped entirely with bikes and Landspeeders. Their function is to hunt down the Fallen Angels, Death's Shadow will be sent to investigate reports of the Fallen and if any are found they will attempt to capture them. If heavy resistance is encountered they may call in The Reapers. While components of the First and Second companies may operate with standard forces they also operate independently of the rest of the chapter.
[edit] The Watchers
When the Knights of Order recruit new marines, those that are pure of mind and able to undergo the transformation are taken to begin the long and arduous path to becoming a space marine. Those who pass the test but would be unable to undergo the stress of the transformation process are inducted into the watchers. They are taken by the chapters Librarians and take an oath that binds them and their line to the service of the Knights. They are tasked with collecting information and then dispatched back to their home planet or dispersed throughout the Imperium to act as intelligence gatherers for the chapter. This allows the Knights to collate intelligence data from all reaches of the galaxy meaning they can prepare for actions they may have to undertake. On some occasions this has allowed the chapter to arrive at a planet on the eve of a rebellion or invasion and crush their adversaries with a preemptive strike.

[edit] Officers of Note
[edit] Supreme Grand Master
The current Supreme Grand Master of the Knights of Order is Kealen Faust who has held this position for nearly 934 years. He is a meticulous and a cunning strategist but has a reputation for never allowing the fallen to escape, no matter the cost. He frequently engages the enemy with his men and always leads from the front. He wields the many ancient artifact weapons that are his badges of office. He presents a formidable challenge to any force who attempts to engage him.
[edit] Grand Master of The Reapers
The Current Grand Master of the 1st Company, The Reapers, is Gabriel Astelan who has held the position for 863 years. Astelan was recruited at the same time as Faust and the two of them have served together for their entire career. Once Faust was elevated to the position of Supreme Grand Master he appointed Astelan to the office he holds at the soonest possible opportunity. While Faust is pragmatic and meticulous Astelan is more charismatic, while still retaining the strategic mind that is the mark of all marines of the Unforgiven chapters. Thus they complement each other in the art of war and so serve together as much as possible in the field.
