Warhammer 40k Wiki

This is a list of official Space Marine Chapters created by Games Workshop. It does not include any fan-created Chapters, though it does include the Traitor Legions and other Renegade Chapters of Chaos Space Marines as well as those Space Marine Chapters considered Excommunicate Traitoris by the High Lords of Terra whether they serve the Dark Gods or not. This is not a complete list as not every Chapter in existence in the Imperium of Man is known.

Please note: Fan-created Chapters must be posted at the Warhammer 40k Fanon Wiki and not on this page. A separate list also exists for Renegade Space Marine Chapters and Chaos Space Marine warbands here.

Name Origin Founding Notes
Absolvers Unknown Unknown The Absolvers are a Codex Astartes-compliant Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in the Imperial records.
Adulators Unknown Unknown The Adulators are a Codex Astartes-compliant Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in the Imperial records.
Angels Encarmine Blood Angels Second Founding The Angels Encarmine are a Second Founding Successor Chapter of the Blood Angels. This Chapter is very rarely at full strength due to their highly active nature and willingness to intervene anywhere in the galaxy to protect the Emperor's people.
Angels Eradicant Unknown Unknown The Angels Eradicant are a Loyalist Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marine Chapter of unknown origin and Founding. Virtually nothing is known about this obscure Chapter within the official Imperial archives.
Angels Numinous Blood Angels Unknown The Angels Numinous are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter and a Successor Chapter of the Blood Angels created during an unknown Founding. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in Imperial records. Created as they were from the Blood Angels' gene-seed, they too, carry the genetic Flaws inherited from Sanguinius. Like many of their contemporary Successor Chapters Founded in later centuries, the Angels Numinous were greatly affected by the genetic flaws of their Blood Angels' heritage, the Black Rage and the Red Thirst. When a Battle-Brother falls to the throes of the Black Rage he is placed within the ranks of the Chapter's Death Company. Unlike their forebears, the Angels Numinous are known to take a much harsher, punitive attitude to their battle-lost brothers, hurling their Death Companies into battle with no concern for their afflicted Battle-Brothers' lives and using them as a blunt instrument to break enemy front lines no matter the cost. The Angels Numinous' Chaplains have displayed such merciless disregard many times across the span of millennia.
Angels of Absolution Dark Angels Second Founding The Angels of Absolution are a Second Founding Chapter of the Dark Angels. However, unlike their fellow Unforgiven, the Angels of Absolution feel that their shame in the eyes of the Emperor of Mankind has already been wiped away and they have earned his absolution, which has also led to them forgoing the use of the term "Unforgiven" in relation to themselves. As might be expected, this stance produces some conflict when the Angels of Absolution undertake joint operations with the Dark Angels and their fellow scions of Lion El'Jonson.
Angels of Damnation Unknown Unknown The Angels of Damnation are a Codex Astartes-compliant Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in the Imperial records.
Angels of Fire Unknown Unknown The Angels of Fire are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown origin, Founded during the 36th Millennium. It is unknown who their Primarch is or where their homeworld is located. The Angels of Fire are a young but powerful Space Marine Chapter, and are willing to prove themselves in battle against the enemies of the Emperor.
Angels of Fury Unknown Unknown The Angels of Fury are a Codex Astartes-compliant Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. Their Chapter homeworld is Ingiga in the Segmentum Solar, but almost nothing is known about the Chapter in Imperial records.

Angels of Vengeance Dark Angels Second Founding The Angels of Vengeance are a Second Founding Successor Chapter of the Dark Angels.
Angels of Vigilance Unknown Second Founding The Angels of Vigilance are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter believed to have been created during the Second Founding from an unknown origin.
Angels Penitent Blood Angels Second Founding The Angels Penitent are a Codex Astartes-compliant Loyalist Successor Chapter of the Blood Angels, created during an unknown Founding. Prior to the arrival of the mysterious individual known only as the "Undying Martyr," the Chapter was known as the Angels Resplendent. Many amongst this Chapter were once fine artisans, echoing their genetic forebears. While other Chapters fought for glory, faith or the sheer joy of slaughter, the Angels Resplendent had made nobility its creed. Alone amongst the scions of Sanguinius, this Chapter had been entirely free of the madness that haunted the Angel's bloodline. No Space Marine in the blue and gold had ever succumbed to the Black Rage. But while interrogating the mortal interloper called the Undying Martyr, the Chapter's Chaplains had listened to the stranger's new insights into the Imperial Creed and to his denunciation of the irredeemable corruption of Mankind and the Adeptus Astartes' complicity in the degeneration of the Imperium. Swayed by the mortal's passionate words, a new zeal struck the Angels Resplendent, and the Chapter began what it called the Great Purge, the elimination of all activities and items considered blasphemy under their new and puritanical interpretation of the Imperial Creed. Fired by a burning urgency to earn redemption for Mankind's and the Astartes' collective sins in the sight of the God-Emperor, the Angels Resplendent renamed themselves the Angels Penitent. They allowed themselves to be ruled by the Crown of Thorns, a ruling conclave made up of the Chapter's Chaplains, who severely punished any brother who dared to break their edicts. Another worrying symptom of the new order was that the Battle-Brothers of the Chapter are now prone to falling victim to the genetic curse known as the Black Rage. It now appears that this curse flourishes freely enough to warrant the Chapter raising a Death Company of its own.
Angels Porphyr Unknown Unknown The Angels Porphyr are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter that was Founded during the 31st Millennium, their actual Founding and origin remain unknown.
Angels Redeemed Unknown Unknown The Angels Redeemed are a Codex Astartes-compliant Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in the Imperial records.
Angels Repentant Unknown Unknown The Angels Repentant are a Codex Astartes-compliant Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in the Imperial records.
Angels Resplendent Unknown Unknown The Angels Resplendent are a little known Codex Astartes-compliant Loyalist Successor Chapter of the Blood Angels, created during an unknown Founding. Recently, the arrival of a strange mortal known as the "Undying Martyr" led to the Chapter's conversion to a puritanical variant of the Imperial Creed. The Angels Resplendent renamed themselves the Angels Penitent, banned the production of all forms of art, and have dedicated themselves to the elimination of all sin and the castigation of all sinners, whether they be mortal or Astartes.
Angels Revenant Ultramarines 8th Founding The Angels Revenant are a Codex Astartes-compliant Loyalist Space Marine Chapter and a Successor Chapter of the Ultramarines. This Chapter's origins can be traced to the 8th Founding which allegedly occurred during the mid-34th Millennium, undertaken amid the dark times of the Nova Terra Interregnum, when the Imperium of Man had been split into twin interstellar empires. Ultimately, the Angels Revenant met their fate with the rise of the Necron Maynarkh Dynasty within the Orpheus Sector of the Segmentum Tempestus in 991.M41. It is believed that no more than a few hundred Angels Revenant survived the Necron assault upon their Chapter homeworld. The only survivors were those members of the Chapter who were far from the Orephus Sector on Crusade.
Angels Sanguine Blood Angels Second Founding The Angels Sanguine are a Loyalist Chapter of Space Marines and a Second Founding Successor Chapter of the Blood Angels. Theirs is a long and glorious history, having been pivotal in many victories against the Chaotic horrors that have emerged from the Eye of Terror. Yet the shadow of the Blood Angels' genetic Flaw lingers ever about the Angels Sanguine.
Angels Vermillion Blood Angels Second Founding The Angels Vermillion are a Second Founding Successor Chapter of the Blood Angels.
Angels Vindicant Unknown Unknown The Angels Vindicant is a Loyalist Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marine Chapter of unknown origin and Founding. Virtually nothing is known about this obscure Chapter within the official Imperial archives.
Astral Fists Unknown Unknown The Astral Fists are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. Almost nothing is currently known about this Chapter in the Imperial records. Their only notable engagement was when they were ordered to engage the Tyranids Echidna Splinter Fleet sometime during the 41st Millennium.
Astral Knights Unknown Unknown The Astral Knights were a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter from an unknown Founding and origin. The Astral Knights sacrificed their entire Chapter in 926.M41 to destroy the hideous threat to the Imperium called the Worldengine in the Vidar Sector. This Necron weapon was a planet-sized spacecraft, armed with Gauss Projectors capable of scorching entire planets of all life on their surface.
Aurora Chapter Ultramarines Second Founding The Aurora Chapter is a Loyalist Chapter of Space Marines of disputed Founding that is a Successor Chapter of the Ultramarines. The Armoury of the Chapter boasts more Predators and Land Raiders than any three other Loyalist Space Marine Chapters combined and they are thus specialised in armoured assaults. Their name has become a byword for armoured assault across the Ultima Segmentum of the Imperium of Man that serves as their primary area of operations.
Avengers Unknown Unknown The Avengers are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin about which almost nothing is known in Imperial records.
Avenging Sons Unknown Unknown The Avenging Sons are a Codex Astartes-compliant Loyalist Space Marines Chapter originally created during the 19th Founding from the gene-seed of the Ultramarines. The Avenging Sons hail from the world of Traekonnis Major.

Name Origin Founding Notes
Benedictors Unknown Unknown The Benedictors are a Codex Astartes-compliant Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in the Imperial records.
Black Consuls Ultramarines Second Founding The Black Consuls are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter that were a Second Founding Successor or Primogenitor Chapter of the Ultramarines. The Black Consuls were recorded as having been annihilated at the Siege of Goddeth Hive in 455.M41 by elements of the Word Bearers Traitor Legion. Their current status is unknown, though Imperial records indicate that a force of Black Consuls is still operating in the Jericho Reach as part of the Achilus Crusade.
Black Crusaders Unknown Unknown The Black Crusaders are a little-known Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in the Imperial records. The Black Crusaders were known to have been involved in an Imperial campaign in which they attacked an Ork enclave on the planet of Guilus II, and were the first to encounter the Grot Bomm Launcha.
Black Dragons Unknown Cursed 21st Founding The Black Dragons are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter from the Cursed 21st Founding. Their gene-seed is defective and riddled with mutation. Specifically, the Black Dragons' mutated Ossmodula organ can lead to the development of bony crests on the heads and arms of certain Space Marines of the Chapter. The affected Black Dragons Marines are formed into special units known as Dragon Claws.
Black Guard Raven Guard Second Founding The Black Guard are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter and a rare Raven Guard Successor Chapter of the Second Founding. Much of this Chapter's history has been lost to Imperial records.
Black Inculpators Unknown Unknown The Black Inculpators are a Codex Astartes-compliant Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in the Imperial records.
Black Templars Imperial Fists Second Founding The Black Templars are a Loyalist Second Founding Space Marines Chapter derived from the Imperial Fists' gene-seed and their Primarch, Rogal Dorn. Their origin can be traced back to the Imperial Fists’ defence of Terra during the Horus Heresy. Since that time, the Black Templars have been on the longest Crusade the Imperium of Man has ever known to prove their loyalty to the Emperor of Mankind.
Black Wings Unknown Unknown The Black Wings are a Loyalist Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marine Chapter of unknown origins and Founding. Little else is known of this Chapter's history within the Imperial archives.
Blood Angels N/A First Founding The Blood Angels are one of the 20 First Founding Legions of the Space Marines. They are well known for their bloodthirsty nature in battle, and feared for the curse of flawed gene-seed they carry. The Blood Angels are among the longest-lived of the Adeptus Astartes, with some of the Chapter's Space Marines having served the Emperor of Mankind for over a thousand standard years. Thanks to recent events, the Blood Angels' numbers have been severely depleted. Under the threat of extinction, and in order to quickly replenish their numbers, the Blood Angels were forced to ask their kindred Successor Chapters from subsequent Astartes Foundings for a tithe of warriors from the related Chapters' pools of Neophytes, their candidate Space Marines. With these tithes of new recruits, the Blood Angels were more quickly able to replenish their losses, though they still face a time of trial like none the Chapter has known since the days of the Horus Heresy.
Blood Drinkers Blood Angels Second Founding The Blood Drinkers are a Loyalist Space Marines Chapter and a Second Founding Successor Chapter of the Blood Angels. The name "Blood Drinkers" comes from the Chapter's craving for blood, the result of a mutated omophagea gene-seed organ. The Blood Drinkers Chapter Master is Orloc, who participated alongside his Battle-Brothers in the heroic defence of the Blood Angels' homeworld of Baal from the Forces of Chaos and the Tyranids in 999.M41.
Blood Legion Blood Angels Unknown The Blood Legion are a Loyalist Space Marine Successor Chapter of the Blood Angels that were created during an unknown Founding. Almost nothing is currently known about this Chapter in Imperial records.
Blood Ravens Unknown Unknown The Blood Ravens are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown origins and Founding. The origins of the Blood Ravens are shrouded in mystery. This elusive Chapter has always been drawn to the pursuit of knowledge and the acquisition of ancient lore and produces an unusually high number of Librarians among its ranks as a high proportion of Neophytes develop psychic abilities soon after their implantation with the Blood Ravens' gene-seed organs. The powerful Blood Ravens Librarians guide the Chapter, enabling them to fight with a precision and calculated fury made possible by their ability to predict and thwart their enemy's strategies and tactics before they come to pass. These arcane powers have led to great speculation and some worry about the true nature and origins of this Chapter in the rest of the Imperium of Man.
Blood Swords Unknown Unknown The Blood Swords are a Codex Astartes-compliant Loyalist Space Marine Chapter that was created using the gene-seed of the Blood Angels. The Blood Swords' Founding date is not known. The Blood Swords' homeworld is the planet Jaggafall. The Blood Swords Chapter is unique among the Space Marines in that for a time its Chapter Master, Daggan, was actually a Venerable Dreadnought. Currently, the Blood Swords have joined with the Star Dragons Chapter to travel the wastes of space near the Eye of Terror in a joint containment fleet designated Containment Fleet Kappa. For centuries these two Chapters had frequently joined forces when a given situation demanded it. The close proximity of their homeworlds of Jaggafall and Draconith had given them great reason to remain cordial and closely allied. Sometime in its recent history the Blood Swords Chapter was torn from its homeworld. This act of shame resulted in the Chapter undertaking a Penitent Crusade in order to redeem themselves in the eyes of the Emperor of Mankind. In the wake of the act of shame that saw the Blood Swords torn from their homeworld the Star Dragons had moved to support them.
Brazen Claws Iron Hands Second Founding The Brazen Claws are a Loyalist Second Founding Successor Chapter of the Iron Hands Legion. The Chapter recently emerged from a twenty-year-long ill-conceived Crusade of Venegeance in the Eye of Terror against the Traitor Legions and other Forces of Chaos. Some portions of the Chapter were corrupted during that struggle, though the majority of its Battle-Brothers remain free of Chaotic taint.
Bone Knives Unknown Unknown The Bone Knives are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in the Imperial records except for their participation in the Nusquam Fundimentibus Campaign in 941.M41. At the request of Inquisitor Amberley Vail of the Ordo Xenos, the Bone Knives Chapter deployed a Strike Cruiser in support of an Imperial relief expedition to reinforce the Valhallan 597th and Nusquan 1st Imperial Guard regiments against a Tyranid outbreak on Nusquam Fundimentibus. However the Strike Cruiser did not arrive until just after Ciaphas Cain, regimental Commissar to the 597th, and his aide Ferik Jurgen detonated the geothermal power station of the capital city Primadelving, causing a volcanic eruption that incinerated a Hive Ship fragment at the city's core and ending the threat to the Damocles Gulf. A Bone Knives Thunderhawk gunship subsequently rescued Cain and Jurgen from the Ice World's surface and ferried them to safety.
Brazen Minotaurs Unknown Unknown The Brazen Minotaurs are a Loyalist, Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. Their Chapter homeworld is called Tauron. Little of substance is known about the Chapter in Imperial records, though what is known is that the Chapter has worked closely with the Raven Guard Chapter on several occasions, and a close relationship has developed between the two as a result. The Brazen Minotaurs are only concerned with the destruction of their foes in as quick and as clean a way as possible. They prefer to meet their enemies head-on, looking them in the eyes before taking their lives. The Chapter’s strategies are not subtle. They do not need to understand their enemy since such knowledge is unnecessary in order to strike him down. The Chapter possesses an unwavering and unquestioning approach to battle as they storm their way to victory after victory in the name of the Emperor. The Brazen Minotaurs always act as a fist of iron driven into the very heart of the enemy.
Brazen Skulls Unknown Unknown The Brazen Skulls were a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in the Imperial records. Their only notable engagement was when they took part in the Sabbat Worlds Crusade fighting in support of the reincarnated Saint Sabbat. The Brazen Skulls were eventually wiped out as a Chapter by 773.M41.
Brothers Penitent Unknown Unknown The Brothers Penitent is one of the Loyalist Space Marine Chapters Founded as part of the Astartes Praeses - one of the 20 Chapters of Astartes mentioned in the ancient tome known as the Mythos Angelica Mortis that was created to defend the regions surrounding the Eye of Terror in the Segmentum Obscurus from the Forces of Chaos. The Brothers Penitent are of an unknown Founding and origin. Though this Chapter works alongside those of the Astartes Praeses, they have a reputation for being insular in nature.
Brotherhood of a Thousand Unknown Unknown The Brotherhood of a Thousand is a Loyalist Codex Astartes-compliant Chapter of unknown origin and Founding.
Brothers of the Red Blood Angels Unknown The Brothers of the Red are a now-extinct Loyalist Space Marine Chapter and a Successor Chapter of the Blood Angels, created during an unknown Founding. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in Imperial records. Created as they were from the Blood Angels' gene-seed, they too, carried the genetic Flaws inherited from their Primarch Sanguinius. Like many of their contemporary Successor Chapters Founded in later centuries, the Brothers of the Red were greatly affected by the genetic flaw of their Blood Angels' heritage, the Black Rage, which eventually led to their Chapter being fatally undone and their inevitably extinction.

Name Origin Founding Notes
Carcharodons Raven Guard (Unconfirmed) 23rd Founding The Carcharodons are a Loyalist Space Marines Chapter of brutal reputation that was Founded during the 23rd Founding. They are a suspected Successor Chapter of the Raven Guard. The Carcharodons participated in the latter stages of the Badab War. They were a fleet-based Chapter until in recompense for their role in the Badab War they were given control over the Mantis Warriors Chapter's territory in the Maelstrom Zone of the Ultima Segmentum, a group of Feral and Feudal Worlds called the Endymion Cluster. The Carcharodons may actually be the same Chapter as the Space Sharks; the term Carcharodons may simply be a fragment of their name translated into High Gothic for that same unit of Astartes.
Carmine Blades Blood Angels Unknown The Carmine Blades are a Loyalist Space Marine Successor Chapter of the Blood Angels, created during an unknown Founding. Hailing from the Feral World of Haldroth, this Chapter were originally named the Swords of Haldroth. Indeed, the Carmine Blades are a Chapter who passed, perhaps accidentally, as descendants of the Ultramarines Legion for a considerable time, until a chance meeting with High Chaplain Astorath the Grim in late M.41 revealed the truth behind their origins. The Carmine Blades had at last an answer for the strange symptoms that they had worked so hard to conceal from those around them -– they now had a name for the Red Thirst and Black Rage that they had hitherto been unable to explain. Created as they were from the Blood Angels' gene-seed, these genetic Flaws inherited from Sanguinius greatly afflicted the Chapter like many of the Blood Angels' contemporary Successor Chapters founded in later centuries.
Celebrants Unknown Unknown The Celebrants Chapter was Founded during the 36th Millennium. It is unknown what Chapter provided their gene-seed. Their only mention in Imperial history is that they were ordered to withdraw from the world of Phaethon IV and instead to take up garrison duty on the Ecclesiarchy's Cardinal World of Nedicta Secundus to protect the holy relics of the Adeptus Ministorum found there from the ravages of the Tyranid Hive Fleet Kraken.
Celestial Guard Crimson Fists 25th Founding The Celestial Guard are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter created during the 25th Founding from the gene-seed of the Crimson Fists. Their Chapter homeworld is called Erenon and is a storm-shrouded Ocean World located to the galactic northwest of Nocturne.
Celestial Lions Imperial Fists Unknown The Celestial Lions are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter raised in the 38th Millennium during an unknown Founding as a Successor Chapter of the Imperial Fists. The Chapter has a long and glorious history, stretching back over 4,000 standard years, but events set in motion over a decade ago during a routine assault on the world of Khattar in 988.M41 may now prove to be the Chapter's undoing in the wake of the events that unfolded during the Third War for Armageddon. The Celestial Lions are deeply distrustful of the motives and methodology employed by the Inquisition, and are vocal opponents of its recent actions during the Khattarn Insurrection. This political opposition and demand for investigations into the Inquisition's dealings has raised the hackles of many important people within the Imperium's most senior circles. This may have contributed to the recent misfortune which nearly destroyed the Chapter.
Charnel Guard Blood Angels (Unconfirmed) Unknown The Charnel Guard are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. This reclusive, fleet-based Chapter, whose chronicle threads through many dark passages of the Imperium's history, is believed by some sources to be an unacknowledged offshoot of the Blood Angels. This Chapter is known to seal themselves away in vast stasis crypts when not on campaign, and the Chapter's armoury holds countless examples of weapons rarely seen in the late 41st Millennium. Evidence for this lies in the number of ancient war relics the Charnel Guard is known to possess, such as a Fellblade super-heavy tank and at least two other super-heavy tanks of similar provenance. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in Imperial records other than the participation in the defence of the Maelstrom Zone from the Chaos Renegades of the nearby Warp rift of the same name.
Consecrators Dark Angels Unknown The Consecrators are a Successor Chapter of Loyalist Space Marines created from the gene-seed of the Dark Angels during an unknown Founding. The Consecrators are noted for bearing all manner of holy relics and ancient patterns of arms, armour and vehicles. They appear to have inherited the most revered arms and armour of the original Dark Angels Space Marine Legion, preserving them lovingly, and bearing them down the through the ages against the foes of the Emperor of Mankind.
Contenders Unknown Unknown The Contenders are a Codex Astartes-compliant Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in the Imperial records.
Crimson Castellans Unknown Unknown The Crimson Castellans were a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown origins and Founding who became embroiled in a civil war between the members of their own Chapter after a portion of their brotherhood turned to Chaos. However, the Chapter, both Loyalist and Renegade factions, was largely destroyed in 993.M41, when the Tyranid Hive Fleet Jormungandr unexpectedly descended upon the world of Sephrax where the Loyalists were battling their Renegade brethren. The Chapter homeworld of Vorl Secunda was subsequently abandoned due to the outbreak of a mysterious illness known as the Grey Phage, forcing the Crimson Castellans to become a fleet-based Chapter. Later, the Loyalists of the Chapter were forced to defend the world of Ector in the Valedan System during their decennial recruitment ritual from a simultaneous assault of a splinter fleet of Hive Fleet Kraken and the main body of Hive Fleet Leviathan. It is unknown at the present time whether the Chapter still exists in some form in the wake of the conflict on Ector.
Crimson Consuls Ultramarines Unknown The Crimson Consuls are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding who are a Successor Chapter of the Ultramarines. They were destroyed entirely by the machinations of the Alpha Legion Chaos Space Marines, possibly on the orders of Alpharius (or Omegon masquerading as Alpharius) himself.
Crimson Fists Imperial Fists Second Founding The Crimson Fists are one of the Successor Chapters created during the Second Founding, drawn from the Imperial Fists Legion. Though they remain understrength from the Ork invasion of Rynn's World, the Crimson Fists are a proud and stubborn Chapter, never admitting defeat.
Crimson Guard Unknown Unknown The Crimson Guard are a Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marine Chapter created by using the gene-seed of the Crimson Fists Chapter. Almost nothing else is known about them in Imperial records.
Crimson Legion Blood Angels Unknown The Crimson Legion are a now-extinct Loyalist Space Marine Chapter and a Successor Chapter of the Blood Angels, created during an unknown Founding. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in Imperial records. Created as they were from the Blood Angels' gene-seed, they too, carried the genetic Flaws inherited from Sanguinius. Like many of their contemporary Successor Chapters Founded in later centuries, the Crimson Legion were greatly affected by the genetic flaws of their Blood Angels' heritage, the Black Rage and the Red Thirst. When a Battle-Brother fell to the throes of the Black Rage he was placed within the ranks of the Chapter's Death Company. Unlike their forebears, the Crimson Legion were known to take a much harsher, punitive attitude to their battle-lost brothers, hurling their Death Companies into battle with no concern for their lives and using them as a blunt instrument to break enemy front lines no matter the cost. This Chapter displayed such merciless disregard many times across the span of millennia.
Crimson Paladins Unknown Unknown The Crimson Paladins is a Loyalist Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marine Chapter of unknown origin and Founding. Virtually nothing is known about this obscure Chapter within the official Imperial archives, except the name of the Chapter's homeworld of Fortress and their fortress-monastery, which is known as Honour Hold. Much of this fortress is below ground as added protection against orbital strikes.
Crimson Scions Unknown Unknown The Crimson Scions are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown origins and Founding. Virtually nothing is known about this obscure Chapter within the official Imperial archives, except that they are located near the Imperial Hive World of Minea within the Segmentum Ultima.
Crimson Scythes Unknown Unknown The Crimson Scythes are one of the Loyalist Space Marine Chapters Founded as part of the Astartes Praeses - one of the 20 Chapters of Astartes mentioned in the ancient tome known as the Mythos Angelica Mortis that was created to defend the regions surrounding the Eye of Terror in the Segmentum Obscurus from the Forces of Chaos. The Crimson Scythes are of an unknown Founding and origin.
Crimson Shades Unknown Unknown The Crimson Shades are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown origin and Founding. Virtually nothing is currently known about this obscure Chapter within official Imperial records. The Librarians of the Crimson Shades, like their counterparts of the Space Wolves and the White Scars Chapters, are one of the noteworthy examples that take exception to the doctrines of the Codex Astartes. Though the role of this Chapter's Librarians is not so different from the traditional role found for Librarians in more orthodox Chapters, it is in the methods they employ that they differ significantly from the majority of the Adeptus Astartes. Exactly what this difference is has not yet been recorded.

Name Origin Founding Notes
Dark Angels N/A First Founding The Dark Angels are considered amongst the most powerful and secretive of the Loyalist Space Marine Chapters. They were the I Legion of the original 20 Space Marine Legions to be created during the First Founding of the 30th Millennium. Though they claim complete allegiance and service to the Emperor of Mankind, their actions and secret goals at times seem at odds with that professed loyalty, as the Dark Angels strive above all other things to atone for an ancient crime of betrayal committed over 10,000 standard years ago against the trust of the Emperor during the time of the Great Crusade and the Horus Heresy.
Dark Crusaders Unknown Unknown The Dark Crusaders are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown origins and Founding. Nothing else is currently known about them in Imperial records.
Dark Eagles Unknown Unknown The Dark Eagles are a Loyalist Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marine Chapter of unknown origin and Founding. Unfortunately, at this time almost nothing is known about the Chapter beyond their name and Chapter appearance.
Dark Hands Unknown Unknown The Dark Hands are a Codex Astartes-compliant Chapter of unknown origins.
Dark Hunters White Scars Unknown The Dark Hunters are a Loyalist Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marine Chapter descended from the gene-seed of the White Scars during an unknown Founding. The Dark Hunters hail from the night world of Phobian, and ever since the Dellrond Campaign, where a single Dark Hunters Battle Company held the entrance to the Cathedral of the Emperor Ossified for five standard years against the Orks of WAAAGH! Nagrut, the Chapter has had a reputation for being particularly hardy and resolute warriors.
Dark Sons Unknown Unknown The Dark Sons are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin, though the Dark Sons themselves believe that they are Successors of the Novamarines Chapter. The Dark Sons' homeworld is the planet Darkhold located in the Segmentum Obscurus. Little else is known about the Chapter in current Imperial records.
Dark Swords Unknown Unknown The Dark Swords are a Codex Astartes-compliant Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in the Imperial records.
Dark Eagles Unknown Unknown The Death Eagles are a Loyalist, Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marine Chapter. It is suspected that they are one of the rare Successor Chapters of the Raven Guard. Their exact Founding date is unknown. Unfortunately, at this time almost nothing is currently known about the Chapter in Imperial records beyond their name and Chapter appearance.
Death Knights Unknown Unknown The Death Knights are a Loyalist, Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marine Chapter of unknown origin and Founding. Nothing else is recorded about them in Imperial records.
Death Spectres Raven Guard (Unconfirmed) 13th Founding The Death Spectres are a Loyalist Chapter of Space Marines of unknown origin of the 13th ("Dark") Founding, only the second known Chapter of Astartes, besides the Exorcists, to have been created in that unusual Founding. They are possibly a Successor Chapter of the Raven Guard as they share the same mutations as found in that Chapter's gene-seed. Like the Raven Guard, the Battle-Brothers of this Chapter possess a minor mutation that causes the Melanchromic Organ (which controls the amount of melanin in an Astartes' skin tone) to not function properly, leading to the development of albinism in Death Spectres Astartes. They participated in the Siege of Lelithar and the defence of the Cadian Sector against the 13th Black Crusade.
Death Strike Unknown Unknown The Death Strike is a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown origin and Founding whose Fortress-Monastery is located on their homeworld of Nihilas. They are very similar in appearance to the Rainbow Warriors Chapter. This Chapter participated in multiple campaigns, including the Assault on Moros, the Verdan II Extraction, the Ulik Sector campaign and the 13th Black Crusade.
Deathwatch N/A N/A The Deathwatch are not an actual Space Marine Chapter. Instead, they are comprised of Kill-squads formed from the Veteran Space Marines of other Chapters that serve as the Chamber Militant of the Ordo Xenos of the Imperial Inquisition.
Desert Lions Unknown Unknown The Desert Lions are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown origin and Founding who fought in Operation Carthage during the 31st Millennium to retake the world of Istvaan V from the Forces of Chaos who had controlled it since the first days of the Horus Heresy. Nothing else is known about the Chapter in Imperial records.
Dictators Unknown Unknown The Dictators are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in the Imperial records.
Disciples of Blood Blood Angels Unknown The Disciples of Blood are a Loyalist Space Marine Successor Chapter of the Blood Angels, created during an unknown Founding. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in Imperial records. Created as they were from the Blood Angels' gene-seed, they too, carry the genetic Flaws inherited from Sanguinius. Like many of their contemporary Successor Chapters founded in later centuries, the Disciples of Blood were greatly affected by the Black Rage and like the Flesh Eaters, they too, are a shrinking Chapter as the Flaw begins to whittle down their numbers.
Disciples of Caliban Dark Angels Unknown The Disciples of Caliban are a Successor Chapter of the Dark Angels Legion. The creation of the Disciples of Caliban was unusual, in that then-Chapter Master Anaziel of the Dark Angels specifically requested the creation of a new Space Marine Chapter from Dark Angels gene-seed of the High Lords of Terra sometime during the 37th Millennium. Such a request by one Chapter for the creation of another was, and remains, unheard of in the Imperium of Man, and much debate followed among the members of the Senatorum Imperialis on Terra before Anaziel's request was granted. It is rumored among the Unforgiven that this Chapter of their fellowship was founded with the sole purpose of hunting down and capturing the infamous Fallen Angel known as Cypher. The Disciples of Caliban is a very mobile force of Astartes. Their Chapter fleet has been seen in conflicts all over of the Imperium since their Founding.
Doom Eagles Ultramarines Second Founding The Doom Eagles are a Loyalist Space Marines Chapter and a Second Founding Successor Chapter of the Ultramarines. The homeworld of the Doom Eagles is Gathis II. Atop the Ghostmountain, their world's largest peak, sits their mighty fortress-monastery, the Eyrie. The Doom Eagles are a notoriously pious, grim and aloof Chapter of Astartes. However, unlike the Ultramarines, their use of Dreadnoughts is more extensive, fitting with their belief that they are fighting while already dead. They emphasize the use of stealth tactics and speed in combat. At a basic level, all Doom Eagles accept that they are already dead men in the service of the Emperor of Mankind. This is the root of their courage and their unshakable resolution and determination to stand in the face of even the greatest odds. As such, the Space Marines of this Chapter are almost impossible to deter from doing their duty, but they are a dour, grim and depressive lot, albeit staunchly loyal to the Emperor and the Imperium.
Doom Legion Ultramarines Unknown The Doom Legion is a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter and a Successor Chapter of the Ultramarines, created during an unknown Founding. The Doom Legion is responsible for the maintenance and garrison of the Faithful's Deliverance, the pre-Horus Heresy star fortress that overlooks the notorious Elusian Maze asteroid fields. Few other Space Marine Chapters could boast of spaceborne firepower of such magnitude as the Doom Legion. All that is known about the Doom Legion's homeworld, Elusia Prime, is that it was situated within the Ultima Segmentum. During the Imperial Abyssal Crusade in 321.M37, six companies of the Doom Legion deployed and were lost in the Eye of Terror and reemerged into Imperial space centuries later as the warband of Chaos Space Marines known as the Vectors of Pox.
Doom Warriors Unknown Unknown The Doom Warriors are a Codex Astartes-compliant Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. The Doom Warriors have a defect in the Catalepsean Node as a result of a mutation in their gene-seed. Because of this deficiency, Doom Warriors are incapable of true sleep, which in turn makes them a morose, moody Chapter. This is why they specialize in conducting Exterminatus campaigns that allow them to unleash the full extent of their somewhat unbalanced personalities in ways that are constructive.
Dragon Lords Unknown Unknown The Dragon Lords are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in Imperial records. In 998.M41 all contact was lost with the Dragon Lords' Chapter planet, Erwynn's World. This bodes ill for the Dragon Lords until their ultimate fate can be determined.

Eagle Warriors Ultramarines Second Founding The Eagle Warriors are a fleet-based Progenitor (Second Founding) Successor Chapter of the Ultramarines Legion. Since the Eagle Warriors are a fleet-based Chapter with no permanent homeworld on which to build their fortress-monastery, they are continually on campaign to defend those star systems originally conquered by Roboute Guilliman during the Great Crusade. Within the Mythos Angelica Mortis, the great work concerning the Space Marines of the latter part of the 37th Millennium, the Eagle Warriors are listed as the immediate forebears of the Marines Errant, although why they were singled out for the honour of a "named" Founding (23rd Founding) being drawn from their ranks at this time remains lost to posterity.
Ebon Knights Unknown Unknown The Ebon Knights were a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown origin and Founding. Virtually nothing is known about this reclusive Chapter other than that they participated in the notable campaign upon the industrial world of Iriad IV, where they fought a brutal action against a warband of the the World Eaters Traitor Legion. The battle against these Khornate Berserkers resulted in the mutual destruction of both forces and the corruption of the Ebon Knights' sole survivor by the Blood God Khorne.
Emperor's Hands Unknown Unknown The Emperor's Hands are a Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marine Chapter of unknown origin and Founding. Nothing else is currently known about them in Imperial records.
Emperor's Hawks Unknown Unknown The Emperor's Hawks are a Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marine Chapter of unknown origin and Founding. Nothing else is currently known about them in Imperial records.

Emperor's Storm Unknown Unknown The Emperor's Storm are a Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marine Chapter of unknown origin and Founding. Nothing else is currently known about them in Imperial records.
Emperor's Swords Unknown Unknown The Emperor's Swords are a Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marine Chapter of unknown origin and Founding. The Chapter was decimated by the forces of the Alpha Legion after 300 standard years of infiltration and subversion. Another Chapter named the Emperor's Swords, which may or may not be the same group of Astartes, was wiped out in 970.M41 when a massive force of Necrons that had just awakened deep beneath their Chapter homeworld of Bellicas assaulted their fortress-monastery and slaughtered every last Emperor's Sword Space Marine over the course of a three-week-long siege.
Emperor's Warbringers Imperial Fists Unknown The Emperor's Warbringers are a Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marine Chapter of unknown origin and Founding who are a Successor Chapter of the Imperial Fists. This Chapter is known for sometimes making use of camouflage on their vehicles and their personal armour and possesses a reputation as especially brutal combatants against the foes of the Emperor.
Emperor's Wolves Unknown Unknown The Emperor's Wolves are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown origin and Founding whose gene-seed contain altered and integrated wolf genes similar to those found in the gene-seed of the Space Wolves, though any further connection between the Chapters remains unknown. The Emperor's Wolves lost their 8th Company in the Warp who reemerged decades later as the warband of Chaos Space Marines known as the Blood Disciples. Nothing else is known about the Chapter in Imperial records.
Emperor's Wrath Unknown Unknown The Emperor's Wrath Space Marines Chapter is based in Segmentum Solar. They are a Loyalist Chapter of unknown origin and Founding. Their homeworld is in a star system where there are no planets, only asteroids. This system contains three asteroids that have been hollowed out and made into three massive hive cities. This is where the Chapter recruits new members. This Chapter has a deep hatred for xenos like the Tyranids and the Orks. The Emperor's Wrath has purged many Ork-held star systems using the Exterminatus. The Chapter has done the same on many worlds that have fallen to the various Tyranid Hive Fleets. Some of the worlds purged still had large numbers of Imperial forces on them. The Chapter Master and the First, Second and Third Company are currently on a crusade against the Forces of Chaos who have occupied a portion of the world of Cadia following Abaddon's 13th Black Crusade against the Imperium.
Espandors Unknown Unknown The Espandors are a Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marine Chapter of unknown origin and Founding. Nothing else is currently known about them in Imperial records.
Excoriators Imperial Fists Second Founding The Excoriators are a Codex Astartes-compliant Chapter of Space Marines who are a Second Founding Successor Chapter of the Imperial Fists. An ancient tome of knowledge known as the Mythos Angelica Mortis lists them as one of the twenty Chapters of Astartes founded to make up the Astartes Praeses, an ever-vigilant Space Marine task force assigned to guard the regions of the Imperium surrounding the Eye of Terror. The Excoriators' Chapter homeworld is Eschara in the Segmentum Obscurus.
Excubants Unknown Unknown The Excubants are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown origin and Founding. Almost nothing else is currently known about them in Imperial records.
Execrators Unknown Unknown The Execrators are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown origin and Founding. Almost nothing else is currently known about them in Imperial records.
Executioners Imperial Fists Third Founding The Executioners are a savage Third Founding Successor Chapter of the Imperial Fists created according to Imperial records in the first year of the 32nd Millennium. The Executioners were one of four formerly Loyalist Space Marine Chapters that rebelled against the Imperium of Man's authority during the Badab War. The Chapter was believed to have found itself on the wrong side of that conflict through little fault of its own, and was eventually permitted to continue in its service to the Imperium after a 100 year penance crusade.
Exemplars Unknown Unknown The Exemplars are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown origin and Founding. Almost nothing else is currently known about them in Imperial records.
Exorcists Grey Knights 13th Founding The Exorcists were created during the 13th Founding, the so-called "Dark Founding" which occurred sometime between the 35th and 36th Millennia, before the start of the Age of Apostasy. The Exorcists were founded as part of a highly-classified Imperial experiment to create Space Marines who were unusually resistant to daemonic possession and Chaotic corruption because as part of their initiation into the Chapter they had actually been forced to serve as daemonhosts for a short time before having the creature expelled back to the Warp by the intervention of an Inquisitor.
Exsanguinators Blood Angels Unknown The Exsanguinators are a Loyalist Space Marine Successor Chapter of the Blood Angels, created during an unknown Founding. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in Imperial records. Created as they were from the Blood Angels' gene-seed, they too, carry the genetic Flaws inherited from Sanguinius. Like many of their contemporary Successor Chapters founded in later centuries, the Exsanguinators were greatly affected by the Black Rage and like the Flesh Eaters, they too, are a shrinking Chapter as the Flaw begins to whittle down their numbers.

Fire Angels Ultramarines 25th Founding The Fire Angels are a Loyalist Space Marines Chapter created during the 25th Founding of the 40th Millennium from the gene-seed of the Ultramarines. The Fire Angels are best remembered in Imperial records for the role they placed in the recent Badab War, a rebellion by several Space Marine Chapters against the Imperium of Man.
Fire Claws Unknown Unknown The Fire Claws were a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter raised in the 36th Millennium, though of an unknown origin and Founding. It is thought that the Fire Claws were Founded during the dark days of the Age of Apostasy, though Imperial records of events during that strife-torn period are notoriously ambiguous and difficult to uncover. They are believed by some to be a Successor Chapter of both the Ultramarines and the Dark Angels, as gene-seed from both Chapters was probably used in their Founding, though this remains unknown for certain. They were founded as one of the 20 Chapters of the Astartes Praeses, created by the Imperium of Man specifically to guard against the threat of the Traitor Legions attacking from the Eye of Terror. The Fire Claws were once counted amongst the most stalwart defenders of Mankind. The Fire Claws are listed in the annals of Imperial history on many occasions, and have taken part in many glorious victories. Following the events aboard the Space Hulk designated the Captor of Sin, the Fire Claws became convinced that they could wield the weapons of Chaos against itself. The Fire Claws soon embarked on a Crusade to explore the worlds around the Eye of Terror to uncover more Chaotic relics. Over the decades that followed, many such artefacts were discovered and the Fire Claws Chapter became known instead as the Relictors. Eventually, their obsession with obtaining Chaos weaponry was discovered, and for their blasphemy, they were declared Excommunicate Traitoris by order of the Holy Ordos of the Inquisition.
Fire Hawks Ultramarines (Unconfirmed]] 21st Founding The Fire Hawks are one of the Loyalist Space Marine Chapters created in the 36th Millennium during the 21st Founding or "Cursed Founding." While the Fire Hawks have always maintained they were forged from the genestock of the Ultramarines, the sons of Roboute Guilliman have never acknowledged any kinship, fuelling suspicions as to their true heritage. They have the dubious distinction of being one of the few Chapters of the Adeptus Astartes to have lost not one but two Chapter homeworlds. After being nearly driven to extinction during the Badab War, the Fire Hawks' mobile fortress-monastery, the ancient Void Fortress Rapturous Rex and their entire Chapter fleet, was lost in the Warp in 963.M41. It is now believed that the survivors of this disaster became the cursed Astartes known collectively as the Legion of the Damned.
Fire Lords Imperial Fists (Unconfirmed]] Unknown The Fire Lords are a Codex Astartes-compliant Loyalist Space Marines Chapter. Their Founding date has not been officially established. There is no definite information on what Chapter's gene-seed was used in the Fire Lords' creation. There are several theories on the subject, though it is generally believed by most savants of the Administratum that the Imperial Fists are the true source of the Fire Lords' gene-seed. The Fire Lords' homeworld is the volcanic planet of Mundus Pyra. As their name might suggest, the Fire Lords are known for their utilisation of all manner of incendiary weapons, from hand-held Flamer units all the way up to Firestorm bombardment charges delivered from low orbit.
Flame Eagles Raven Guard (Unconfirmed]] Unknown The Flame Eagles are a Loyalist, Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marine Chapter. It is suspected that they are one of the rare Successor Chapters of the Raven Guard. Their exact Founding date is unknown. Unfortunately, at this time almost nothing is currently known about the Chapter in Imperial records beyond their name and Chapter appearance.
Flame Falcons Unknown 21st Founding The Flame Falcons were one of the cursed Space Marine Chapters created during the 21st Founding or so-called "Cursed Founding." Although their earlier successes promised a great future for the Chapter, they were almost completely wiped out by the Inquisition before a hundred years had passed following their Founding. The cause of the Inquisition's attack was that during an engagement, members of the Chapter had burst into flame. These Astartes came to no harm, and believed the flames to be a gift from the Emperor of Mankind, so they fought with a fierce savagery that won the day. The members of the Inquisition did not share the Chapter's belief that they had been blessed by the Emperor, and when the Chapter returned to their homeworld of Lethe to celebrate their victory, they were attacked and almost completely destroyed by a force of Grey Knights who believed them to have been possessed by daemons.
Flesh Eaters Blood Angels Third Founding The Flesh Eaters are an infamous Loyalist Successor Chapter of the Blood Angels Legion created during the Third Founding in the 32nd Millennium. This ruthless Chapter's unsavoury reputation is infamous across the Imperium of Man, as are the bloody deeds purported to have been enacted by its Battle-Brothers upon the fields of battle. So divorced have the Flesh Eaters become from the rest of Mankind that most Imperial Commanders embrace the Chapter's offers of assistance only in the direst of circumstances.
Flesh Tearers Blood Angels Second Founding The Flesh Tearers are the smallest Second Founding Successor Chapter of the Blood Angels, numbering only four full companies of Astartes. They are Loyalists of the Emperor of Mankind though their heavy affliction with the Flaws of their Primarch Sanguinius has led to their investigation on charges of heresy by the Inquisition. They have been cleared of suspicion at present. Like their progenitors, the Flesh Tearers are known for their bloodthirsty nature in battle, bad temper and feared for the Flaws like the Black Rage and the Red Thirst that they carry within their gene-seed.

Genesis Chapter Ultramarines Second Founding The Genesis Chapter is a Second Founding Successor or Primogenitor Space Marines Chapter of the legendary Ultramarines. The Chapter's homeworld is the planet Newfound which is located a comparatively short distance to the galactic northwest of the Ultramarines' Realm of Ultramar, and its Astartes commonly undertake at least one pilgrimage to the Shrine of the Primarch on Macragge. First amongst the Ultramarines' Primogenitor Chapters to be raised (and hence their name), the Genesis Chapter are dogmatically loyal to the Imperium of Man and the memory of their Primarch Roboute Guilliman, and can be counted upon to fight at the Ultramarines' side without hesitation.
Golden Gryphons Unknown Unknown The Golden Gryphons are a Loyalist Chapter of Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marines of unknown Founding and origin. Nothing else is known about them in Imperial records.
Golden Halos Unknown Unknown The Golden Gryphons are a Loyalist Chapter of Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marines of unknown Founding and origin. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in the Imperial records other than that they were engaged in such notable campaigns as: Kistvaen, Podzul, and the decades-long Siege of Nectocalyx, which was colloquially referred to as "The Meatgrinder."
Golden Sons Blood Angels Unknown The Golden Sons are a now-extinct Loyalist Space Marine Chapter and a Successor Chapter of the Blood Angels, created during an unknown Founding. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in Imperial records. Created as they were from the Blood Angels' gene-seed, they too, carried the genetic Flaws inherited from Sanguinius. Like many of their contemporary Successor Chapters Founded in later centuries, the Golden Sons were greatly affected by the genetic flaws of their Blood Angels' heritage, the Black Rage and the Red Thirst. When a Battle-Brother fell to the throes of the Black Rage he was placed within the ranks of the Death Company. Unlike their forebears, the Golden Sons were known to take a much harsher, punitive attitude to their battle-lost brothers, hurling their Death Companies into battle with no concern for their afflicted Battle-Brothers' lives and using them as a blunt instrument to break enemy front lines no matter the cost. This Chapter displayed such merciless disregard many times across the span of millennia.
Grey Knights Emperor of Mankind Unknown The Grey Knights are a secret, mysterious Loyalist Chapter of Space Marines specifically tasked with combating the dangerous daemonic entities of the Warp and all those who wield the corrupt power of the Chaos Gods. They have the honour of being implanted with gene-seed engineered directly from the genome of the Emperor Himself. The Grey Knights act as the military arm or Chamber Militant of the Ordo Malleus, the Daemonhunters who form the oldest branch of the virtually omnipotent Inquisition. Unlike other Astartes, every Grey Knight is a potent psyker. Yet, in the 10,000 standard years of Imperial history, no Grey Knight has ever been corrupted by the Ruinous Powers of Chaos. The Grey Knights' fortress-monastery is based on Titan, the largest of the moons of the gas giant Saturn in the Sol System, that is kept as a private preserve of the Inquisition.
Grey Slayers Unknown Unknown The Grey Slayers are a Loyalist Space Marines Chapter of unknown origin and Founding that became corrupted by Chaos. Inquisitor Thrax purged the Chapter of mutants and daemons, and the Chapter Master took his own life in shame. Untainted officers were raised up to lead the Chapter. The purge was apparently not quite thorough enough, as Inquisitor Thrax himself was soon afterwards corrupted by the Ruinous Powers and transformed into some sort of daemonic Chaos beast. The Grey Slayers' eventual disposition and fate remains unknown in current Imperial records.
Grief Bringers Unknown Unknown The Grief Bringers are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown origins and Founding that suffered heavy losses fighting against the Warp entities called Enslavers on the world of Valhall II. Their armour is described as "principally a sickly pea-green, with engrailed chevrons of headachey purple."
Griffon Lords Unknown Unknown The Griffon Lords are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and uncertain origins. This Chapter is a rare example where its Astartes' beliefs are in conflict with official Administratum records, as they claim to be descended from the Ultramarines' Primarch Roboute Guilliman, even though official data-files show that their ancestry is that of Jaghatai Khan's White Scars. There is little else known about this Chapter in current Imperial records.
Guardians of the Covenant Dark Angels Unknown The Guardians of the Covenant is a Successor Chapter of the Dark Angels, of an unknown Founding. This Chapter is dedicated to the scholarly arts as to the ways of war. Masters of both, the Battle-Brothers of this Chapter use their keen intellects as a weapon as sharp as their Chainswords. The Chapter's Astartes study the teachings of the Emperor and of their Primarch Lion El'Jonson in minute detail, attaining a unique perspective on the object of their diligent studies. Every shred of ancient wisdom is absorbed, debated and analysed, so that no ruse or stratagem is beyond the Guardians of the Covenant, and none may better them on the field of battle.

Halo Brethren Unknown Unknown The Halo Brethren are a Loyalist Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in Imperial records, except for their involvement in the campaign against the rebellious Grand Master Drakan Vangorich of the Officio Assassinorum, which became known as The Beheading.
Halo Dragons Unknown Unknown The Halo Dragons are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown origins and Founding who played an instrumental role in containing the Tau's Third Sphere Expansion during the Zeist Campaign of 999.M41. Little else is known about them in Imperial records.
Hammers of Dorn Imperial Fists Unknown The Hammers of Dorn are a Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marine Chapter, raised from the gene-seed of Rogal Dorn as a Successor Chapter of the Imperial Fists during an unknown Founding. They are stringent adherents of the Codex, fostering a great rivalry with the Ultramarines and their Successor Chapters whenever those Battle-brothers do not match their own militant standards.
Hammers of Retribution Unknown Unknown The Hammers of Retribution are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in Imperial records.
Hawk Lords Ultramarines Unknown The Hawk Lords are a Codex Astartes-compliant Loyalist Chapter of Space Marines and a Successor Chapter of the vaunted Ultramarines raised during an unknown Founding. The Hawk Lords Chapter heavily favours the use of their various gunships, and so are unsurprisingly the undisputed masters of aerial combat amongst the Adeptus Astartes. So skilled are they in the use of such tactics that the Astartes pilots of other Loyalist Chapters have been known to spend time as pilots in one of the Hawk Lords' Talon Wings to gain the aeronautical skills displayed by the Hawk Lords.
Heralds of Ultramar Ultramarines Unknown The Heralds of Ultramar are a Codex Astartes-compliant Chapter derived from the Ultramarines gene-seed. Their exact Founding date is unknown. Virtually nothing else is known about this Chapter in current Imperial records.

Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in the Imperial records except for the name of their homeworld of Jonol, located in the Eastern Fringes of the Segmentum Ultima. Though all of the Successor Chapters extant in the 41st Millennium owe their genetic heritage to one of the First Founding Legions, not all the histories of their creation have survived the passing of thousands of years of war. The Honoured Sons believe they are descended from the Imperial Fists Primarch Rogal Dorn, and whilst no evidence exists to the contrary, neither do the Imperial Fists officially acknowledge them as a Successor Chapter.
Hospitallers Unknown Unknown The Hospitallers are a non-Codex Astartes-compliant Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in current Imperial records.

The Howling Griffons take a special pride in their oaths, seeing each as the promise of an unending effort until the deed sworn in the oath is accomplished or the oathtaker has been slain in the trying.

Imperial Fists N/A First Founding The Imperial Fists are one of the First Founding Chapters of the Space Marines and were originally the VII Legion of Astartes raised by the Emperor Himself. During the Great Crusade the Imperial Fists functioned as the Emperor's "personal praetorians," accompanying him everywhere. The Imperial Fists were usually used to strike a decisive blow against the enemies he confronted during that time. The role of the Emperor's bodyguard since he was mortally wounded during the Horus Heresy and interred within the Golden Throne at the heart of the Imperial Palace on Terra has been entirely taken over by the Adeptus Custodes.
Imperial Harbingers Unknown 23rd Founding The Imperial Harbingers are a Loyalists Space Marine Chapter of unknown origin whose Founding occurred during the 23rd Founding in the 37th Millennium. This Chapter hails from the world of Birmingham, "the Black Planet," so named because it receives very little visible light. The Imperial Harbingers are specialists at drop assaults.
Imperial Hawks Unknown Unknown The Imperial Hawks are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown origin and Founding. They specialise in fast attacks from the air, utilising high-altitude Jump Pack-assisted assaults, followed by reinforcement sorties from squadron-strength units of Land Speeders, often dropped at altitude and at high-speed from Thunderhawk gunships. Almost nothing else is known about the Chapter in Imperial records.
Imperial Paladins Unknown Unknown The Imperial Paladins are a Loyalist Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marine Chapter of unknown origin and Founding. Unfortunately nothing else is currently known about them in Imperial records.

Inceptors Ultramarines Second Founding The Inceptors are a Loyalist Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marine Chapter. They are a Second Founding Successor Chapter of the Ultramarines Legion. Interceptors Unknown Unknown The Interceptors are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in current Imperial records.

Iron Hands N/A Unknown The Iron Hands are a Loyalist Space Marines Chapter and one of the original First Founding Space Marine Legions created from the gene-seed of their martyred Primarch, Ferrus Manus. Originally founded as the X Legion, they took part in numerous Imperial Compliances during the Great Crusade. When the Horus Heresy erupted, they were nearly annihilated during the Drop Site Massacre of Istvaan V and their Primarch was slain by the traitorous Fulgrim, Primarch of the Emperor's Children. Since that time, the Iron Hands have grown to believe that human flesh is weak and easily corruptible, and strive to replace their organic bodies with more "pure" bionic substitutes, thus closely emulating the faith of the Adeptus Mechanicus' Cult of the Machine.
Iron Hawks Unknown Unknown The Iron Hawks are a Codex Astartes-compliant Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in current Imperial records.
Iron Hearts Unknown Unknown The Iron Hearts are an obscure Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. Their supposed Primarch is mentioned in Imperial records as "Primarch Rubineck." This is now believed to be a transcription error by an unwitting scribe of the Administratum who was actually referring to the Iron Hearts' Chapter Master. The removal of this Chapter's name may be the result of the content of the short story where at its end a Chaos Daemon Lord gains entrance to the Chapter's training centre via the body of a failed Space Marine. Further records state that the Chapter was all but annihilated fighting a Daemon Lord who manifested in their star system. Only two companies, the Sixth and Tenth, remain at full strength.
Iron Knights Imperial Fists Second Founding The Iron Knights are a Second Founding Successor Chapter of the Imperial Fists. The Iron Knights were one of the many Loyalist Space Marine Chapters who participated in the defence of Cadia from Abaddon the Despoiler's offensive during the Thirteenth Black Crusade. Iron Snakes Ultramarines Second Founding The Iron Snakes are a Second Founding Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown origin who may possibly be a Primogenitor Chapter of the Ultramarines, though they are not a Codex Astartes-compliant Chapter. The Iron Snakes take their name from the giant sea serpents called Water Wyrms that inhabit their homeworld of Ithaka's vast oceans. The Iron Snakes Chapter's primary task is to guard a cluster of Imperial solar systems known as the Reef Stars close to their homeworld of Ithaka, which are infrequently plagued by Orks, and more frequently by the Dark Eldar. The Iron Snakes were one of the many Space Marine Chapters who participated in the defense against the Forces of Chaos during the 13th Black Crusade.

Given the similarities between the Chapter's iconography and that of the Raven Guard Chapter, it might be assumed that the Knights of the Raven are related in some way to the First Founding sons of the Primarch Corvus Corax, though there is no definitive link between the two Chapters beyond the coincidence of name and heraldry. The Chapter's homeworld is the planet Coralax.
Knights Sanguine Blood Angels Unknown The Knights Sanguine are a Loyalist Space Marine Successor Chapter of the Blood Angels, created during an unknown Founding. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in Imperial records. Created as they were from the Blood Angels' gene-seed, they too, carry the heirs of Sanguinius' genetic Flaws, the Red Thirst and the Black Rage. Like many of their contemporary Blood Angels Successor Chapters founded in later centuries, the Knights Sanguine were greatly affected by the Flaw and their numbers were increasingly consumed by the Black Rage.
Knights Unyielding Unknown Unknown The Knights Unyielding is a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown origin and Founding. This Chapter was founded as part of the Astartes Praeses -- one of the 20 Chapters of Astartes mentioned in the ancient tome known as the Mythos Angelica Mortis that was created to defend the regions surrounding the Eye of Terror in the Segmentum Obscurus from the Forces of Chaos.

Lamenters Blood Angels 21st Founding The Lamenters are an unfortunate Loyalist Space Marine Successor Chapter of the Blood Angels, created during the 21st Founding, known as the "Cursed Founding." It seems that the gene-seed Flaws known as the Black Rage and the Red Thirst through unknown means, but this secret cure may have been lost along with the Chapter at the hands of the Great Devourer. Perhaps more than any other Chapter of the present era the Lamenters seem to have been cursed by a dark shadow that has long determined their fate. The Lamenters' accursed and haunted legacy seems to have tainted much of what they have achieved and their victories often become bitter ashes in their hands. They found themselves on the wrong side during the Badab War and were thereafter devastated by the Tyranids.
Legion of Night Unknown Unknown The Legion of Night are a Loyalist Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marine Chapter of unknown origin and Founding. This Chapter hails from the world of Outrenacht. The only thing known with any certainty about these Astartes is that the Legion of Night's combat doctrine revolves around the use of Tactical Squads that utilise the Chapter's large pool of armoured transports. These are used to perform surgical strikes or seize strategic points with the aid of fast-moving Razorbacks or Rhinos. Like their fellow Chapters the Angels of Fury and the Raven Guard, the Legion of Night has forged their combat doctrine around such highly mobile insurgent tactics.
Legion of the Damned Fire Hawks 21st Founding The Legion of the Damned are the most famous of the Chapters of the 21st Founding, known as the "Cursed Founding," and were once known as the Fire Hawks. The Fire Hawks were listed as officially destroyed as a Chapter in Imperial records even though some of their members sometimes appear on Imperial battlefields as the Legion of the Dead when the situation for other Imperial forces is dire, and their intervention turns the tide of battle. Many claim to have seen these living spectres in battle, but no thanks can ever be given to them, for they leave as suddenly and as quickly as they appeared.
Libators Ultramarines Second Founding The Libators are a Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marine Chapter who are a Second Founding Successor Chapter of the Ultramarines. Nothing else is currently known about this Chapter in current Imperial records.
Lion Warriors Unknown Unknown The Lion Warriors are a Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marine Chapter of unknown origin and Founding. Nothing else is known about this Chapter in current Imperial records.
Lions Defiant Unknown Unknown The Lions Defiant are a Loyalist Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in Imperial records. In 992.999.M41, a massive event known as the Night of a Thousand Rebellions occurred. Uprisings and discord struck countless planets across the Imperium. Unrest raced like wildfire, consuming many outlying planets, but also supposedly secure worlds like Enceladus, Darkhold, and Minisotira. Contact is lost with large swathes of the Segmentum Pacificus. Even the homeworld of the Lions Defiant Space Marine Chapter was lost to the anarchy caused by the coordinated activity of secret Chaos Cults and frenetic agitators.
Lions Sable Dark Angels Second Founding The ill-fated Lions Sable Space Marine Chapter was the last of the Second Founding Successor Chapters of the Dark Angels. During the unspoken period of history known as the Forgotten Wars (580.M31-632.M32), the Lions Sable were completely annihilated during a disastrous campaign into the Eye of Terror whilst in pursuit of the notorious Fallen known as Cypher. Their subsequent fate and entire Chapter history was deliberately destroyed by the Dark Angels. Ironically, by the 33rd Millennium, when the great and holy document known as the Apocrypha of Davio was written in an attempt to list all of the known Second Founding Chapters, the name Lions Sable had already been lost.
Lords of Wrath Unknown Unknown The Lords of Wrath are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown origin and Founding. Almost nothing about them is known in Imperial records. The Lords of Wrath are recorded in Imperial records as having participated in the capture of Decius Mus, the Arch-Heretic of Auscum, with assistance from the 23rd Bruttiam Regiment of the Imperial Guard.

Malevolent Unknown Unknown The Malevolent are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in current Imperial records.
Mantis Warriors Marauders 8th Founding The Mantis Warriors, originally known as the Mantis Legion, are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter believed to have been Founded as part of the 8th Founding in 598.M35, created to help relieve the White Scars in monitoring and countering the many threats harboured by the Maelstrom Warp Storm in the Ultima Segmentum. They eventually were ordered by the High Lords of Terra to become part of an alliance of three Space Marine Chapters known as the Maelstrom Warders that also included the Astral Claws and the Lamenters. The Mantis Warriors were one of the three Astartes Chapters that joined the Astral Claws in rebelling during the Badab War. For their sins, they were required to give up their homeworld and pursue the Emperor's forgiveness by defending the Imperium from their fleet without recruiting new members until their penance has been earned and their disgrace erased. After a century, this restriction was raised after the Mantis Warriors proved critical in throwing back the attach of a Tyranid splinter Hive Fleet from the strategically-placed Imperial world of Herodian IV.
Marauders White Scars Second Founding The Marauders are a Loyalist Second Founding Successor Chapter of the White Scars according to the Apocrypha of Davio, written in the 33rd Millennium. Little else is known about them in Imperial records save that the Mantis Warriors Chapter, which grew infamous during the Badab War, was created from the gene-seed stock of the Marauders.
Marines Errant Eagle Warriors 23rd Founding The Marines Errant are a Loyalist, fleet-based Space Marine Chapter of unknown origin created late during the 23rd Founding in the 37th Millennium, to repair the gap left in Imperial military forces by the loss of other Chapters. Further details of this Chapter's origins can be found in the Mythos Angelica Mortis, the great work concerning the Space Marines of this age, which lists five such new-founded Crusade Chapters and their blood-progenitors, with the Marines Errant recorded as having the Eagle Warriors Chapter as their immediate forebears. The Eagle Warriors' gene-seed was drawn from the Ultramarines' lineage, although why the Eagle Warriors in particular were singled out for the honour of a "named" Founding being drawn from their ranks at this time remains lost to posterity.
Marines Errantor Unknown Unknown The Marines Errantor are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in current Imperial records.
Marines Exemplar Unknown Unknown The Marines Exemplar are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter created from unknown origins and Founding. They are one of the Chapters founded to make up the Astartes Praeses, the twenty Chapters created to guard the regions surrounding the Eye of Terror. Nothing else is known about this Chapter in current Imperial records.
Marines Malevolent Unknown Unknown The Marines Malevolent is a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter founded in the 32nd Millennium, and are of unknown genetic origin. While loyal to the Emperor of Mankind and deeply dedicated to the eradication of all of the Imperium's enemies, they have at times shown a disturbing and callous disregard for the lives of the civilians of the Imperium as long as their mission objectives are obtained, which has brought them into conflict with the Salamanders Chapter as well as many other Imperial organisations, including the Inquisition. The Marines Malevolent take a flippant view in regards to collateral damage and the use of excessive force. If innocent civilians or other Imperial forces happen to die due to their brutal tactics, then so much the better. This Chapter believes there is no such thing as "innocence," simply varying degrees of guilt, and that people who will not fight to defend themselves have no right to live as their freedom was purchased with the blood of others more worthy of the Emperor's blessings.
Marines Vindicant Unknown Unknown The Marines Vindicant are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown origin and Founding. Almost nothing else is known about the Chapter in Imperial records save that they played a major role in the scouring of the world of Vorlinghast in 981.M41, which had been overrun by Plague Zombies and the Death Guard Traitor Legion.
Masters of Protelus Unknown Unknown The Masters of Protelus are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. Almost nothing is known about the Masters of Protelus Chapter in current Imperial records.
Mentors Unknown 26th Founding The Mentors, sometimes referred to in Imperial records as the Mentor Legion, are a Loyalist Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marine Chapter of unknown origin created during the 26th Founding in 738.M41, making them one of the most recently Founded Chapters in the Imperium of Man. Little is known about this Chapter in Imperial records, though the Mentors are known to be a reclusive and suspicious Chapter of Astartes who no longer trust other Space Marine Chapters or the Imperial government, preferring to work alone and unobserved by all save the foes of Mankind and the Emperor.
Metamarines Ultramarines Unknown The Metamarines are a Loyalist Space Marine Successor Chapter of the Ultramarines created during an unknown Founding. The most renowned action of the Metamarines was their participation in the 13th Black Crusade in 999.M41, where they aided other Imperial forces in the defence against Abaddon the Despoiler and the Forces of Chaos unleashed upon the world of Cadia and its surrounding sectors.
Minotaurs Unknown 21st Founding The Minotaurs are a savage Loyalist Space Marine Chapter whose actual origins and Founding remain unknown. The Space Marine formation by this name at large in the Imperium today appears to bear little resemblance to accounts of its past. That there existed a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter called the Minotaurs, created during the 21st Founding, known as the "Cursed Founding," of the 36th Millennium, is not widely contested in the Imperial record, but whether or not they are the same as the Chapter bearing the name that took part in the suppression of the Macharian Heresy in the opening decades of the 41st Millennium and the same Chapter that would later go on to play a crucial and bloody role in the Badab War and the Orphean War is not so certain. The Minotaurs possess a reputation for being unusually xenophobic Astartes, even for the Imperium, as well as often unreliable combatants who do not work well with other Imperial military units.
Mortifactors Ultramarines Second Founding The Mortifactors are a Loyalist, Codex Astartes-compliant Second Founding Successor Chapter of Space Marines founded during the 31st Millennium from Ultramarines gene-seed, making them one of the Ultramarines' Primogenitor Chapters. The Mortifactors recruit from the austere Feral World of Posul, where the sun never rises on its frigid plains and its population of nomadic tribes are constantly in conflict with one another and practice cannibalism. The Mortifactors' Neophytes are chosen from the most vicious and skilled warriors on the planet -- who subsequently have a very morbid and dark outlook on life

Night Swords Unknown Unknown The Night Swords are a Codex Astartes-compliant Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. Perhaps the most notable event for this Chapter in recent centuries has been its recovery of the remains of multiple ancient Land Raiders Proteus, which were used to construct the first of these ancient vehicles since the time of the Great Crusade.
Night Watch Unknown Unknown The Night Watch is a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter created from unknown origin and Founding. This Chapter is one of the Chapters founded to make up the Astartes Praeses, the twenty Chapters created to specifically guard the regions of the Imperium surrounding the Eye of Terror. Rainbow Warriors Unknown Unknown The Rainbow Warriors are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown origin and Founding of which there is almost no further mention in current Imperial records. The Chapter's homeworld is called Prism. It should also be noted that in official Imperial records of Space Marine Chapter Homeworlds there is a map showing the locations of different Space Marine Chapters. There is one planet on this map where in the place of a Chapter name, it says "record deleted". By looking closely, it is clear that this deleted Chapter's badge is that of the Rainbow Warriors.
Rampagers White Scars Second Founding The Rampagers are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter and a Second Founding Successor Chapter of the White Scars. Like their progenitors, the Rampagers make use of ritual facial scarring to denote both the rank and achievements of Astartes in the Chapter. These scars are applied during a long, sacred Chapter ceremony called the Blooding. The blood drawn from the faces of the Space Marines during this ritual is then mixed with the drinks served during the feast that always follows the completion of the ceremony.
Raptors Raven Guard Second Founding The Raptors are a Loyalist Second Founding Successor Space Marine Chapter of the Raven Guard. They have been heavily involved in many of the most recent campaigns of the Imperium of Man, including the Badab War, the Third War for Armageddon and the Taros Campaign. The Raptors were originally and mistakenly recorded in Imperial records as a Chapter called the Raptor Legion with a very different colour scheme; this mistake has now been rectified. As a Chapter, the Raptors have been nearly rendered extinct multiple times, but have learned to adapt to changing circumstances so well that they have flourished where other Chapters would simply have had their names added to the ranks of the fallen. The Raptors' Chapter culture is one that is very wary of the idea of martial glory or honour, and prefers instead to emphasise pragmatism, adaptability and completion of the mission over all other concerns. The Raptors, having been reduced to so few Battle-Brothers so often in their history, have no illusions about what war truly is. They understand that war is suffering and death. It is a brutal business that they specialise in, but they have no desire to wallow in its misery beyond what is required to carry out the Emperor's will.
Raven Guard N/A First Founding The Raven Guard is one of the original First Founding Space Marine Legions and was originally the XIX Space Marine Legion before the Second Founding and the adoption of the Codex Astartes. The Primarch of the Raven Guard was Corax (a name which is a play on the Latin binomial species name for raven, corvus corax). The Raven Guard's homeworld is the planet called Deliverance, the airless mining moon of the Forge World Kiavahr, though its original name, before the Horus Heresy, was Lycaeum. The Raven Guard's fortress-monastery on Deliverance is known as the Ravenspire. The Raven Guard are known for their cool-headed, even intellectual temperament, their superb infiltration skills and skill at furious close-quarters engagements. The Raven Guard are the masters of unseen and guerilla warfare, only engaging in frontal assaults when no other option presents itself. The Raven Guard is also rightly feared for the potent units of Assault Marines they field, who use a pair of Lightning Claws instead of the usual Bolt Pistol and Chainsword.
Reclaimers Unknown Unknown The Reclaimers are one of the Loyalist Space Marine Chapters Founded as part of the Astartes Praeses -- one of the 20 Chapters of Astartes mentioned in the ancient tome known as the Mythos Angelica Mortis that was created to defend the regions surrounding the Eye of Terror in the Segmentum Obscurus from the Forces of Chaos. The Reclaimers are a Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. The level of technology and weaponry used by the Reclaimers Chapter appears to be higher than the Imperial average, even among the usually well-equipped Astartes, leading many outsiders to suspect that their Armoury is particularly extensive and diverse. Their Power Armour is noted to be highly decorative and finely-crafted.
Red Hunters Unknown Unknown The Red Hunters are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown origins and Founding that has unusually strong ties to the Inquisition. The Red Hunters Chapter has a long history of putting themselves at the service of the Inquisition and the entire Chapter has been known to serve under the command of an Inquisitor Lord on certain occasions, most notably during the lamentable campaigns known as the Months of Shame and the Siege of Vraks.
Red Legion Unknown Unknown The Red Legion is a Loyalist Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marine Chapter of unknown origin and Founding. This Chapter hails from the world of Oxatan. Nothing else is known about this Chapter in current Imperial records.
Red Scimitars Unknown Unknown The Red Scimitars are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in current Imperial records except for the location of their homeworld within the Pandraxx Sub-Sector of the Acteron Sector of the Segmentum Ultima.
Red Scorpions Unknown Unknown The Red Scorpions are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter known to be composed of conservative Imperial purists who are famed for their complete and utter devotion to Imperial doctrine, past the point where pragmatism or even reason would seem to require otherwise. The Chapter is most renowned among other Astartes for their absolute adherence to every line of the Codex Astartes, which is unheard of in any other Chapter -- including the Ultramarines. They are considered perhaps the most intensely Loyalist and puritanical of all the Space Marine Chapters and will not serve beside any xenos or mutants, including even Imperially-sanctioned Abhumans like Squats and Ogryns. However, they have a high-regard for psykers and make extensive use of Space Marine Librarians. Equally unique in nature is the frequency with which the Red Scorpions' Apothecaries are present in the Chapter's Tactical Squads as squad leaders in place of a Sergeant.
Red Seraphs Unknown Unknown The Red Seraphs are a Codex Astartes-compliant Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in current Imperial records.
Red Talons Iron Hands Second Founding The Red Talons are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter and a Second Founding Successor Chapter of the Iron Hands. The Red Talons were founded in the wake of the tragic events that occurred during the lamentable Horus Heresy, having suffered the tragedy of the loss of their Primarch Ferrus Manus during the open days of the rebellion at the Drop Site Massacre on the world of Istvaan V at the hands of his one-time friend and brother, Fulgrim, Primarch of the traitorous Emperor's Children Legion. The Red Talons were Founded from a portion of the Iron Hands Legion's Morragul Clan, made up primarily of outcasts and the most unstable elements of the X Legion, who fought and died under the merciless command of their bloody-handed Clan commander, the Iron-Lord Autek Mor. The Red Talons' fortress-monastery is located on their homeworld of Raikan.
Red Templars Unknown Unknown The Red Templars are a Loyalist, Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marine Chapter of unknown origin and Founding date. The Red Templars have been known to make use of Assault Bikes at the squad level in combat. Little else is currently known about this Chapter in Imperial records.
Red Wings Blood Angels Unknown The Red Wings are a Loyalist Space Marine Successor Chapter of the Blood Angels, created during an unknown Founding. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in Imperial records. Created as they were from the Blood Angels' gene-seed, they too, carry the genetic Flaws inherited from the Primarch Sanguinius. Like many of their contemporary Successor Chapters founded in later centuries, the Red Wings were greatly affected by the genetic flaws of their Blood Angels' heritage known as the Black Rage and the Red Thirst.
Red Wolves Unknown Unknown The Red Wolves are a Loyalist Chapter of Space Marines of unknown origin and Founding. Very little is known about the Chapter in Imperial records. The Red Wolves claim the planet of Bloodfall in the Segmentum Solar as their Chapter homeworld.
Redeemed Unknown Unknown The Redeemed are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in current Imperial records.
Redeemers Unknown Unknown The Redeemers are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in current Imperial records.

Name Origin Founding Notes
Sable Swords Unknown Unknown The Sable Swords are a Loyalist, Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marine Chapter said to be founded in the latter years of the 41st Millennium, making them one of the newest Space Marines Chapters to be raised. Their origin and founding remain unknown, but their fortress-monastery is located on the world of Obsidia in the Ultima Segmentum.
Salamanders Unknown First Founding The Salamanders are a First Founding Space Marine Chapter whose Primarch was Vulkan. They originally served as the Imperium's XVIII Space Marine Legion during the Great Crusade and the Horus Heresy. Their homeworld is the volcanic Death World of Nocturne. The Salamanders as a Chapter are unusually concerned with preventing civilian casualties compared to most other Space Marines and believe that one of their most important duties is to protect the lives of the Emperor of Mankind's innocent subjects whenever and wherever possible. An unusual trait of the Salamanders is that their Battle-Brothers tend to be slower in reflex reaction than other Chapters. Their gene-seed also causes a peculiar reaction in these Astartes' Melanochrome organ, resulting in an individual Battle-Brother's skin becoming obsidian-black and their eyes blazing with a burning red glow.
Scythes of the Emperor Ultramarines 25th Founding The Scythes of the Emperor are a Codex Astartes-compliant, Loyalist Chapter of Space Marines who are allegedly a Successor Chapter of the Ultramarines of the 25th Founding. The Scythes of the Emperor, along with their allies, the Lamenters Chapter, were virtually destroyed during the invasion of the Imperium of Man by the Tyranids' Hive Fleet Kraken.
Shadow Wolves Imperial Fists Unknown The Shadow Wolves were a Codex Astartes-compliant, Loyalist Space Marine Chapter derived from the Imperial Fists' gene-seed. Created during an unknown Founding, these Scions of Dorn were known to be a zealous and faithful Chapter by reputation, fighting for the honour of the Emperor of Mankind for thousands of Terran years, until they met their ultimate fate at the hands of a Tyranid splinter fleet in 987.M41 when their homeworld of Varadon was overrun by the xenos swarms.
Silver Eagles Ultramarines Second Founding The Silver Eagles are a Loyalist Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marine Chapter. They are a Second Founding Successor Chapter of the Ultramarines Legion. Little is known of this Chapter's history within Imperial archives.
Silver Guard Unknown Unknown The Silver Guard is a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin that fought to liberate the Sabbat Worlds Sector from the control of the Forces of Chaos during the Sabbat Worlds Crusade that began in 741.M41. Nothing else is known about this Chapter within current Imperial records.
Silver Sabres Unknown Unknown The Silver Sabres are a Codex Astartes-compliant Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in current Imperial records. In 984.M41, a Warp rift opens above the Feudal World of Vhospis. The beleaguered defenders, their tech-level so low that they still rely on polearms and metal armour, are easy prey for the Daemon invaders. An astropathic distress call reaches the Silver Sabres Space Marine Chapter, whose Chapter planet, Mercuria, is less than a light year distant. Unfortunately for Vhospis, Daemons hunting the skies above the planet's besieged castles destroy almost all of the Drop Pods launched towards the surface. A single Space Marine survives, and rallies the people of Vhospis, reigniting their potent faith in the Emperor. Slowly, day by gore-soaked day, he begins to turn the tide. Following these events, the Chapter's current status is unknown.
Silver Skulls Ultramarines (Unconfirmed) Second Founding The Silver Skulls are a Codex Astartes-compliant Loyalist Chapter of Space Marines who are a possible Second Founding Successor Chapter of the Ultramarines, though this remains unconfirmed. The Silver Skulls have earned a reputation for achieving victory for the Imperium of Man no matter the odds stacked against them. Of course, this reputation has been earned because the Silver Skulls will only take to the battlefield when the psychic portents that their specialist Librarians known as Prognosticators receive from the Emperor indicate that the outcome of the combat will be favourable for the Chapter. The Silver Skulls' homeworld is the Feral World of Varsavia, which lies on the edge of the region of the galaxy known as the Gildar Rift in the Ultima Segmentum, a thinly settled area haunted by numerous xenos species. The Silver Skulls are known to engage in a number of barbaric rites that are likely to have emanated from the cultures from which they recruit. Notable amongst these is the practise of head taking, whereby especially potent enemies are beheaded during battle, their decapitated heads born as trophies until victory is won. As part of its post-battle celebrations, the Chapter selects the heads of the most powerful enemies, flense flesh from bone and layer the skulls in a coat of silver.
Silver Stars Unknown Unknown The Silver Stars were once a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in current Imperial records except for the dire fate that they succumbed to. Unable to recover enough of the precious Progenoid Glands of their fallen Battle-Brothers, the Silver Stars could not cultivate further Astartes organ implants to create future generations of Space Marines for the Chapter. The Chapter quickly died off, unable to replace its losses. Like their counterparts, the Sons of Gorgax, this Chapter is now no more than a dusty memory, the only evidence of its existence being a dry footnote within the Index Astartes.
Skull Bearers Executioners (Unconfirmed) Unknown The Skull Bearers are a Loyalist Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marines Chapter of unknown origin and Founding who believe themselves to be a Successor Chapter of the zealous and ferocious Executioners Chapter. The validity of this belief is unknown. Very little else is known about this Chapter in current Imperial records.
Sky Sentinels Unknown Unknown The Sky Sentinels are a Loyalist Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marine Chapter of unknown origin and Founding. This Chapter hails from the world of Pranagar. Nothing else is known about this Chapter in current Imperial records.
Solar Hawks White Scars Unknown The Solar Hawks are a little-known Loyalist Space Marine Successor Chapter of the White Scars, founded during an unknown Founding. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in Imperial records except for their involvement in the Imperial campaign known as the Blackfist Scalping. In 882.M41, the White Scars joined forces with two of their Successor Chapters – the Solar Hawks and the Storm Lords – to combat WAAAGH! Blackfist on the Agri-World of Lycelle. Competition between the three Chapters was fierce, with each trying to outdo the battlefield deeds of the others in the name of their Primarch Jaghatai Khan.
Sons of Antaeus Unknown 21st Founding The Sons of Antaeus are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter created during the 21st Founding, known as the "Cursed Founding," and Imperial records concerning the activities of the Sons of Antaeus are few. Like the Antaeus of Greek myth, the Astartes of the Sons of Antaeus Chapter are unusually large and robust physical specimens, even among their kind, and they are capable of surviving wounds and physical injuries that would kill even other Space Marines. The obvious links between the Chapter's name and the ancient Terran Herculean mythology could hint at a link between the Sons of Antaeus and the Ultramarines Chapter, but there is no official evidence to back this assumption. There are many rumours as to why they are so difficult to destroy, ranging from reinforced skeletons to enhanced genetics. At this time, the truth remains unknown.
Sons of Dorn Imperial Fists Unknown The Sons of Dorn are a Loyalist Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marine Chapter and a Successor Chapter of the Imperial Fists. They were created during an unknown Founding at some time during the 34th Millennium. The Sons of Dorn's Chapter homeworld is the Feudal World of Archea which is located in the Segmentum Solar. In 999.M41 Archea was ravaged by a splinter fleet of the Tyranids' Hive Fleet Leviathan. With the bulk of their Chapter deployed in defence of the Imperium around the Eye of Terror to halt the 13th Black Crusade, much of Archea was consumed by the Great Devourer. With a world and a Chapter to rebuild, it will likely take several standard centuries before the Sons of Dorn are back to full strength.
Sons of Gorgax Unknown Unknown The Sons of Gorgax were once a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in current Imperial records except for the dire fate that they succumbed to. Unable to recover the precious Progenoid Glands of their fallen Battle-Brothers in large enough amounts, the Sons of Gorgax were unable to cultivate further organ implants for future generations of new Space Marines for the Chapter. The Chapter quickly died off, unable to replace its losses. This Chapter is now no more than a dusty memory, the only evidence of its existence an ancient record within the Index Astartes.
Sons of Guilliman Ultramarines Unknown The Sons of Guilliman are a Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marine Chapter created during the 33rd Millennium from Ultramarines gene-seed. Nothing else is known about this Chapter in current Imperial records.
Sons of Jaghatai White Scars Unknown The Sons of Jaghatai are a Codex Astartes-compliant Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding. They are a Successor Chapter of the White Scars. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in current Imperial records.
Sons of Medusa Iron Hands Unknown The Sons of Medusa are a Loyalist Successor Chapter of Space Marines drawn from the unforgiving Iron Hands Chapter whose existence was ratified by an Imperial edict of the High Lords of Terra in 011.M37. The Sons of Medusa are a Chapter with a history of ruthless efficiency in the merciless persecution of the Imperium of Man's foes. Like their forebears, they are extreme devotees of the Emperor of Mankind and look with disgust upon those who lack their strength of will. They are a distinguished Chapter whose long roll of battle honours can be traced back to the early 37th Millennium.
Sons of Orar Ultramarines (Unconfirmed) Unknown The Sons of Orar are a Codex Astartes-compliant Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown origin and Founding. Their homeworld is named Armato and it lies in the Segmentum Ultima. They are perhaps most famous for spearheading the Imperium of Man's massive assault upon the Eldar Craftworld Alaitoc. This Chapter reveres Orar, an Ultramarines Legion Captain who won great renown in the wake of the Horus Heresy.
Sons of the Kraken Unknown Unknown The Sons of the Kraken are a Codex Astartes-compliant Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in current Imperial records.
Space Sharks Unknown Second Founding The Space Sharks are a Loyalist Chapter of Space Marines of the Second Founding whose origin remains unknown and who are the current guardians of the Endymion Cluster of worlds in the Maelstrom Zone of the Segmentum Ultima. The Endymion Cluster is the region once governed by the Mantis Warriors Chapter which the Space Sharks were granted following the Badab War as compensation for their losses. Before that conflict, the Space Sharks were a Fleet-based Chapter. It is not entirely clear whether the Space Sharks are a separate Chapter or are the same group of Astartes as the recently returned Carcharodons Chapter that also took part in the Badab War.
Space Wolves N/A First Founding The Space Wolves are one of the original 20 First Founding Space Marine Legions, and were once led by their famed Primarch, Leman Russ. The Space Wolves are renowned for their anti-authoritarian ways and their embrace of their homeworld Fenris' savage barbarian culture as well as their extreme deviation from the Codex Astartes in the Chapter's organisation.
Star Dragons Unknown Unknown The Star Dragons are a Loyalist Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. The Chapter homeworld of the Star Dragons is the planet Draconith. Currently, the Star Dragons have joined with the Blood Swords Chapter to travel the wastes of space near the Eye of Terror in a joint containment fleet designated Containment Fleet Kappa.
Star Leopards Unknown Unknown The Star Leopards are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in current Imperial records.
Star Phantoms Unknown 23rd Founding The Star Phantoms are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of the 23rd Founding, the so-called "Sentinel" Founding, created in the early 38th Millennium from an unknown origin. During this tumultuous period of history, the Star Phantoms were one of several Chapters whose mission was to take and hold various xenos-contested regions on the very borders of the Emperor’s domains. They took part in the final days of the Badab War and the final assault upon the Renegade Astral Claws' Chapter homeworld of Badab Primaris, helping bring the war to a successful conclusion. The Star Phantoms display a peculiarly idiosyncratic Chapter Cult. The Chapter’s rites and traditions focus on death and martyrdom, the fallen being revered over and above the living symbols of death and mourning are used as Chapter iconography, the Chapter symbol itself featuring a sand-timer surmounted by two death’s heads. This trait extends to a generalised disregard for the living that has often manifested in excessive collateral damage amongst populations the Chapter has been tasked with purging of insurrectionist elements, and even amongst allied units.
Star Scorpions Unknown 25th Founding The Star Scorpions were a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of the 25th Founding of unknown origin. They are now considered extinct, a lost Chapter of Astartes. It is unknown what Chapter provided the gene-seed for the Star Scorpions' Founding and little else about the Chapter is available in current Imperial records.
Steel Confessors Iron Hands 19th Founding The Steel Confessors are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter secretly Founded in the 36th Millennium during the 19th Founding by the Adeptus Mechanicus for its own use from the gene-seed of the Iron Hands. After their discovery by the Inquisition, the Steel Confessors were forced to become an independent Chapter, but they still maintain unusually close ties with the Mechanicum of Mars. They recently successfully defended their homeworld, the Forge World of Kalevala, from an attack by the Tyranid Hive Fleet Leviathan, though at great cost to the Chapter.
Stone Hearts Unknown Unknown The Stone Hearts are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in Imperial records. Stone Hearts Battle-Brothers are known for marking their bodies with intricate tattoos that denote each battle that they have fought in.
Storm Callers Unknown Unknown The Storm Callers is a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown origin and Founding. Nothing else is currently known about them in Imperial records other than that portions of the Chapter were corrupted by Chaos during the Storm Callers advance into the Taninim Expanse, a civil war was fought within the ranks of the Chapter and the Loyalists emerged triumphant, purging the Traitors from their midst.
Storm Falcons Unknown Unknown The Storm Falcons are a Loyalist Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marine Chapter of unknown origin and Founding. Virtually nothing is known about this obscure Chapter within the official Imperial archives, except the name of the Chapter' homeworld of Talon located in the Segmentum Ultima in the Hodur Sector. In 997.M41, Hive Fleet Leviathan encroached into Imperial space. The Tyranids, under the direction of the legendary synapse creature known as the Swarmlord, orchestrated multiple planetary invasions. In the span of only four months, the Swarmlord oversaw the absorption of 24 worlds, including the Storm Falcons' Chapter homeworld of Talon. This resulted in a series of swift victories for the Leviathan along the spine of worlds within the Hodur Sector. Talon was subsequently abandoned. Whether or not the Storm Falcons fought to the last or simply abandoned their doomed planet is not known. The Chapter's current fate remains unknown.
Storm Giants Salamanders (Unconfirmed) 26th Founding The Storm Giants are a Loyalist Codex Astartes-compliant Chapter of Space Marines created during the 26th Founding in 738.M41. Their origins remain unknown, though many suspect that they are a Successor Chapter of the Salamanders of Nocturne. The Storm Giants are primarily a Fleet-based Chapter, preferring to meet any threats to the Imperium of Mankind on their own terms. They also do not want to be tied down to any one world, having to defend a fortress-monastery in case they are ever attacked, as has happened to to many other Space Marine Chapters. As a Fleet-based Chapter, the Storm Giants can stay mobile while avoiding those that would bring ill fortune upon their Chapter.
Storm Hawks Raven Guard Unknown The Storm Hawks are a Loyalist Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marine [[Chapter and rare Successor Chapter of the Raven Guard. Their exact founding date is unknown but the Storm Hawks are thought to be related to the Raven Guard through a later Founding. Nothing else is known about this Chapter in current Imperial records.
Storm Lords White Scars Second Founding The Storm Lords are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter and a very rare Second Founding Successor Chapter created from the gene-seed of the White Scars. Nothing else is known about this Chapter in current Imperial records.
Storm Wardens Unknown Unknown The Storm Wardens are a Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin, based on the Forbidden World of Sacris in the Calixis Sector of the Segmentum Obscurus. Their entire 1st Company and Chapter Master Owin Glandwyr were placed into stasis within a sealed portion of the Chapter's fortress-monastery on Sacris following the Nemesis Incident of 945.M36. Furthermore, the Chapter homeworld of Sacris was forbidden to have any contact with the rest of the Imperium by the Inquisition. The reason for these steps remain unknown.
Storm Warriors Unknown Unknown The Storm Warriors are a Loyalist Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marine Chapter of unknown origin and Founding. It appears that they are a late Founding Chapter. However, beyond this, almost nothing is known about the Storm Warriors in current Imperial records.
Storm Wings Unknown Unknown The Storm Wings are a Loyalist Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marine Chapter of unknown origin and Founding. The Storm Wings Chapter homeworld is the Eyrie, a planet in the Segmentum Solar. Nothing else is known about them in current Imperial records.
Stormwalkers Unknown Unknown The Stormwalkers are a Codex Astartes-compliant Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in current Imperial records. In the wake of the Age of Apostasy, the Segmentum Tempestus sees a resurgence in power and renaissance of expansion, known to Imperial historians as the "Rising Storm." With the blessing of Terra, Segmentum Tempestus authorities launch a number of crusades and campaigns to destroy lingering threats within their domain, and push back and fortify the borders of the Imperium. The most successful of these is the Dark Marches Crusade (launched in 610.M36), commanded by Lord Tempestus Hal Orpheus, lineal descendants of the Rogue Trader house that had first explored the Orpheus Region's sinister reaches millennia previously. The Stormwalkers send three Brotherhoods of Astartes to take part in the massive Imperial Crusade.
Subjugators Imperial Fists (Unconfirmed) Unknown The Subjugators are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter suspected to be a Successor Chapter of the Imperial Fists' created during either the 23rd or 24th Founding in the 41st Millennium. The Subjugators are one of the 20 Chapters of the Astartes Praeses who were specifically created to guard the sectors of the Imperium that lie near the Eye of Terror. The Chapter's homeworld is called Xenax, which lies in the Segmentum Solar.

They became the Renegade Warband known as the Swords of Khargoth.
Swords of the Emperor Unknown Unknown The Swords of the Emperor are a Loyalist Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding or origin. Little is known of this Chapter's history within current Imperial archives.

Templars of Blood Blood Angels Unknown The Templars of Blood is a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter and Successors to the Blood Angels of an unknown Founding. Like their progenitor Chapter, these sons of the Primarch Sanguinius take pride in their ability to meet the foe head-on, although this is where the similarities between the Chapters end. The Astartes of the Templars of Blood are known to suffer from the Flaw of Sanguinius known as the Black Rage at a much reduced rate compared to the Blood Angels or their other Successor Chapters. This reason for this is unknown, though some suspect the Chapter has bought this boon through dark and secretive means.
Terror Tigers Unknown Unknown The Terror Tigers are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in current Imperial records. Sometime in the 41st Millennium, the Terror Tigers lost one quarter of their Chapter's strength when a mutant warlord assaulted their homeworld, after which their Chapter Master summarily ordered his own execution as punishment. Later on, an exploration team of Terror Tigers rediscovered the lost Feral World of Hannibal, intervening in an Eldar attempt to reclaim the world as their own. The team dramatically came to the primitive human natives' rescue from the hands of the deceitful xenos.
Tiger Claws Astral Claws 21st Founding The Tiger Claws were a former Loyalist Space Marine Chapter descended from the Astral Claws Chapter. Declared destroyed over fourteen centuries earlier and effectively a dead Chapter, a lone Strike Cruiser reappeared after having been trapped in the Warp and subjected to severe time distortion. Their world having been rendered lifeless and their Chapter an all forgotten legend, the acting Chapter Master travelled to Holy Terra in an attempt to petition for the release of their Chapter's Gene-Seed in an effort to rebuild their lost Chapter. But subsequently the Tiger Claws envoy disappeared without trace while awaiting to petition their position and was summarily dismissed. It was later found in 908.M41 during the conflict known as the Badab War that the Astral Claws Chapter Master Lufgt Huron had in fact deliberately withheld his Chapter's gene-seed, not to replenish the Chapter's own losses, but at first in order to help save their near extinct kin, the Tiger Claws Chapter. The last remnants of which had sought sanctuary with them in secret. When the Astral Claws were defeated, 200 of their wretched kind managed to escape, fleeing into the Warp Storm known as the Maelstrom. It is possible that some of the Astral Claws brethren were in fact Tiger Claws, and now survive among the renegade warband known as the Red Corsairs.

They are currently led by their famed Chapter Master, Marneus Augustus Calgar, the Lord Macragge. Their homeworld is Macragge in the autonomous Imperial Realm of Ultramar. The Ultramarines have more Successor Chapters descended from their gene-seed than any other First Founding Legion.

Valedictors Unknown Unknown The Valedictors are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in the Imperial records. The Valedictors were originally portrayed as a First Founding Legion which saw action on the Eastern Fringe of the Imperium against Orks, Eldar, and Traitors during the Horus Heresy. They were described in detail in two Epic articles in White Dwarf 126 and 136, (circa 1990-91). The status of the Valedictors changed in White Dwarf 235, where they are said to be of a "later Founding," (post-Second Founding). Therefore, the Valedictors are no longer considered a First Founding Legion.
Venerators Unknown Unknown The Venerators were a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter of unknown Founding and origin. Almost nothing is known about this Chapter in Imperial records. During the 5th Black Crusade in 723.M36, Abaddon the Despoiler scoured the Elysia Sector, raiding hundreds of Imperial worlds and causing untold death and destruction. On Tarinth, the Despoiler lured the Warhawks and Venerators Chapters into the ruins of Kasyr Lutein where he trapped them between the daemonic hordes of Khorne and the forces of the Black Legion. In a bitter last stand, both Loyalist Chapters were utterly destroyed, their skulls taken by the ancient Daemon Prince Doombreed, whose existence preceded that of the Imperium itself, to be mounted upon the mighty Skull Throne of the Blood God.

White Consuls Ultramarines Second Founding The White Consuls are a Second Founding Chapter of Space Marines. They are listed in the Apocrypha of Davio as having derived from the Ultramarines' gene-seed. Unlike other Astartes Chapters, they are unusual in that they maintain two Chapter Masters simultaneously -- one leading the Chapter to war as battlemaster, the other as the Proconsul of Sabbatine and its vassal star system, overseeing the defence of the Chapter's homworld and commanding a standing force ready at a moment's notice to respond to incursions through the Cadian Gate.

White Scars N/A First Founding The White Scars are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter, founded from the genetic template of their Primarch Jaghatai Khan. They were also one of the First Founding Legions of the Legiones Astartes, in this case the V Legion. Known and feared throughout the Imperium of Man for their highly mobile way of war, the White Scars are considered the masters of the lightning strike and hit-and-run attack and are particularly adapted to the use of the Astartes Assault Bike as their mechanical steeds and their forces contain an unusually large number of Bike Squads compared to other Chapters. Bearing the ritual scars of bravery, these fierce warriors fight with all the tribal savagery that define the fierce steppe nomads of their homeworld Mundus Planus, bringing swift death to all of the enemies of the Imperium.
White Templars Unknown Unknown The White Templars are a Loyalist Codex Astartes-compliant Space Marine Chapter of unknown origin and Founding, but rumoured to be a Successor Chapter of the zealous Black Templars Chapter. The White Templars' Chapter homeworld is the planet named Sanctum, located in the Segmentum Solar. Virtually nothing else is known about the Chapter in Imperial records.
