The Roane Deepers are regiments of the Imperial Guard raised up from the world of Roane. The Roane Deepers Regiments were deployed in support of the Sabbat Worlds Crusade, a massive Imperial Crusade fought over the course of more than 23 standard years between 755.M41 and 778.M41, to help retake the Sabbat Worlds Sector located at the rimward edge of the Segmentum Pacificus from the heretical Forces of Chaos. The Roane Deepers fought alongside the Tanith First and Only on several occasions, most notably in the defence of Vervunhive during the Sabbat Worlds Crusade. The Deepers have a reputation for being lazy and somewhat lackadaisical or laid-back in their approach to warfare and training. Their reputation as a regiment is somewhat middling to say the least. However, they have proven themselves staunch and tenacious fighters when the las-bolts begin to fly. The regiment is rather poorly equipped -- a result of being far down the Departmento Munitorum's list of priorities for supply. This fact no doubt explains the large number of expert "scroungers" amongst their ranks. The Deepers are a light infantry regiment, much like Gaunt's Ghosts themselves, but without the same capacity for stealth. They suffered greatly in the defence of Vervunhive, where they fought in mustard drab fatigues and netted helmets.
According to Dan Abnett's blog, the Roane Deepers are based off of ANZAC troops.
