Space Crusade
From Warhammer 40k
Space Crusade is an out-of-print board game by Milton Bradley. The game was set in Games Workshop's Warhammer 40,000 universe.
The game is based upon one of the universe's "Space Hulks", an ancient, derelict starship drifting through the territory of the Imperium. Because a hulk may contain bits of lost information or technology, the Imperium often sends teams of Space Marines to search for and recover these valuable items. The hulk may not stay in real space for very long, eventually slipping back into the Warp, so retrieval operations must be rapid and efficient.
A multitude of aliens often make homes of these hulks, attacking those who come aboard. The game pits up to three investigative teams of Space Marines against these xenos.

[edit] Gameplay
The game is set on a four-piece board made up of various corridors and rooms which can be arranged in multiple ways; these represent the interior of the derelict craft. One to three players control the Space Marines, another player acts as gamesmaster and controls the movements and actions of the aliens.
The game utilises a number of simple but effective elements to replicate the experience of exploring such a derelict - scanned alien "blips" can represent any of the alien types but are only revealed on the board when a marine figure can "see" the alien.

[edit] Storyline
A simple story accompanied the gameplay from mission-to-mission, drawing the player into an intriguing sci-fi world. This followed the same sort of narative as its big brother, Space Hulk.
[edit] Derivatives
A computer game was made based on the board game. This was for the PC (DOS), Amiga, Amstrad CPC, ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64 and Atari ST.
