Prince Yriel, Autarch of Craftworld Iyanden, bearing the Spear of Twilight
The Spear of Twilight, known also as the Cursed Blade of the House of Ulthanash, is an eldritch artefact kept in a Stasis Field within the Shrine of Ulthanash on the Craftworld Iyanden. This ancient weapon is said to contain the baleful energies of a dying sun, and is so powerful, that it eventually burns through a bearer's soul. The Spear, like other types of cursed artefacts, cannot be set aside by the owner willingly without death. Prince Yriel, Autarch and outcast of Iyanden, first used the potent Spear to slay a Hive Tyrant, the leader of the Tyranid hordes of Hive Fleet Kraken invading Iyanden in 992.M41, and was forevermore bound by its curse. The Spear's curse operates by slowly draining Yriel's life energy as he struggles to keep the artefact's power in check. The Spear of Twilight is actually a modified Singing Spear, the psychically-charged weapons similar to Witchblades that are often utilised by Eldar Warlocks.
