Canon ConflictEdit

How can the  Dictator-class Cruiser, the Lord Solar Macharius of the Imperial Navy acting during the Gothic War under the command of Leoten Semper be named after Lord-Commander Solar Macharius?

The Macharian Crusade took place more then 200 years after the Gothic War. Help me get it straight. 14:34, August 9, 2016 (UTC) Commissar Froststienar

RE: Canon ConflictEdit

Commissar Frostienar,

From what I can tell from official canon sources, in the novel Execution Hour by Gordon Rennie, Flag-Captain Hendrik Morrau, commander of the Chaos-corrupted Hades-class Heavy Cruiser, Contagion (originally the Vengis), recollects the vessel named the Lord Solar Macharius from six hundred years before the Gothic War. Morrau had fought alongside the Lord Solar Macharius (under Rutgen Jago) during a fleet action against a force of Fra'al raiders in the Osiris Cluster. Please keep in mind, this novel was originally written in 2001. In more recently established canon (circa 2012), author William King's The Macharian Crusade (Trilogy) series revealed that the Lord-Solar Macharius lived from 356-400.M41, approximately 200 years after the Gothic War, which took place from 143-151.M41. This has obviously been retconed by the author, and as such, the newer canon trumps the older canon. Whether or not Black Library or Games Workshop addresses this disambiguation in the near future remains to be seen. I hope this satisfactorily answers your question.
